"Sandra."
"Here."
"Romelle? Oh, wait she's sick. Katie?"
"Here. It's Pidge-"
"Keith?"
Lance's English teacher, Mrs. Wretworth, blinked her big eyes around the class room as a thick silence sat in the air. She was a frail woman, with a skinny face and large, often glaring, eyes. She spun around in her chair, facing back to her computer monitor. "Guess he isn't here again." She muttered to herself.
Isn't he the one I bumped into this morning? Lance turned to Pidge, and Pidge leaned over. "We saw him this morning, didn't we? Doesn't make sense why he wouldn't be here for 1st, I'll tell her-"
Pidge quickly pushed down Lance's raising hand, and shook their head. "He's probably ditching for a reason, don't ruin this for him. If _you_ wanted to ditch seeing Mrs. WetWort for one day, would you want some rando to rat you out?"
Lance put his hand under his leg, and shifted slightly away from Pidge, playfully glaring at them. "I don't like how you called me a rando." He said under his breath, and smirked. "Why are you sticking up for him so much anyway? We don't even know him, he seems shady to me." Lance's voice lowered more, his blue eyes looking from side to side. "He was walking away from Rolo... is he friends with him?"
"The stoner guy? I don't know. But I haven't really seen Rolo do anything bad to anyone. I'm sure Keith wouldn't either." Pidge turned back to facing the front of the class, Mrs. Wretworth standing up and pulling down the screen. "Just let it slide." Pidge finished, and the students began to take out their folders.
As the teacher began to go over notes, Lance's mind couldn't quite drop it. He couldn't pin exactly what in Keith's ditching that won't let Lance neglect it all together. Forgetting that Keith is even in his English class is easy, but his name fits him well, Lance wont forget his face.
What is he doing with Rolo? Is Keith buying pot from him? He should really watch where he is walking. Remembering how Keith bumped into Lance made him chuckle a little. Keith's disarray was the most expressive emotion Lance has ever seen from him. It was a quick encounter, so he couldn't really remember every detail of his expression, or his appearance rather. But Lance did want to.
Curiosity was now making Lance sit on the edge of his seat, staring off intently at the board as the teacher smacked a student's desk. He wants to... Know more. What goes on in the day of the life of Keith? Heck, Lance doesn't even know the boy's last name. I will know soon though. He thought to himself.
The thought made Lance sit back a little, reeling from what he had just stated in his mind. It sounded a bit... Stalkerish. He rested in his forehead on his arms, staring down at his jeans. Maybe I should just let it slide like Pidge said. I don't really have any right to insert myself in Keith's life just because he ditched a class. Another thought floated into his head, a thought that made Lance shiver a little. I don't want to be annoying...
"Awh, Romelle is sick today." Pidge said to themselves. "Too bad lover-boy Lance has one less cute girl to stare at in class."
Lance erked and sat up quickly. "I don't like Romelle!" He not-so-whispered angrily. His voice dropped more as his cheeks beamed. "I like someone else..."
Pidge rolled their eyes. "Yeah yeah, Lonce. I know you like the princess. You turn into a little lovesick boy when you talk about her or even see her." Pidge grinned. "It's kinda cute."
Lance's lit up like a flame of embarrassment and he stiffened. "Well, uh- you...!"
"I don't really get giddy over crushes like you do, man." Pidge said, and shrugged. "Anyways, you know Allura has a blog too, right? I don't think it's as good as yours, though. Her's is just all about the charity work she does and blah blah blah-"
"Blog? What? PidgeWhyDidntYouTellMeSheHasABlog???" Lance's words ran together and hissed at Pidge in a high-pitched tone, which made Pidge take off their glasses, shut their eyes, and hold the bridge of their nose.
Pidge held up a hand, cringing. "Jesus, were you bit on the ass? You're going way too fast."
"Why didn't you tell me? Send me the link to it when you get a chance, Pigeon."
"I wanted to have her glory for a while before you rampage her posts with love-comments."
Lance squinted. "I wouldn't do that."
"Sure would. Do you want her to find out about your blog?" Pidge's voice was quiet again. "You told me to keep it a secret between you and Hunk."
"Yeah, you're right." Lance smiled at Pidge, but mostly at himself. He was, without a doubt, thankful to have such loyal friends by his side... Lance's mood threatened to shift again. Even when I bug them so much... Lance's breath hitched slightly, and he swallowed hard, straightening his back. He wore another grin on his face. "I won't be commenting though, I will be stone-cold like you."
"Bet." Pidge teased. "You're the opposite of cold. You are all happy sunshine and rainbows uwu"
"Don't say uwu." Lance laughed. "I don't wanna get exposed."
"Lance sends me UwU's, Lance sends me UwU's." Pidge mocked, dancing in their seat.
We're so immature. Lance laughed, and then scrambled to catch up on copying the notes. Though he was writing fast, his eyes flicking from the screen to his paper frequently, a smile still sat on his lips.
