FORTY — ( NEW YEARS ! )OTHER THAN CHRISTMAS, NEW YEARS WAS OLIVIA'S FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR. It was something about starting a new year that excited Olivia. It was like a fresh start. She especially enjoyed being at home, in New York, to celebrate.
Violet had always flown over to spend it with Olivia as she enjoyed it just as much as the blonde did. It was one of the things that Olivia loved about it, spending it with her best friend and this year was even better, spending it with her boyfriend and best friend.
Violet and Tom had both flown over the day before New Year's eve, arriving at different times obviously and the three had spent the rest of the day in Olivia's apartment. The next day, they had drove down to Olivia's parents house, where Sebastian also was, so Olivia could introduce Tom to her parents and she thought it would be less awkward if Violet was with them.
Luckily, her parents had loved Tom. Olivia knew they would but there was still a little doubt that they wouldn't like him but they had and she was over the moon. Her father and Tom had spoken non-stop the whole time they were there but Olivia was happy, she was so glad they were getting along.
They had all then traveled back into the city, for the fireworks. Olivia wanted Tom to experience New Years in New York properly. Olivia and Tom were both wrapped up in layers of clothing as it was still freezing cold in New York, as they stood around waiting in Times Square for it to hit 12.
Olivia was staring up at Tom, her arms around his torso, admiring his face as he looked around the square. "I think I'm in love with you." Olivia mumbled, not thinking Tom had heard her. She closed her eyes, her head resting against his chest.
She didn't think he had heard, but he had. The words ringing in his head. He didn't think she'd be the first one to say it, he expected it to be him. He wanted it to be him. "W-what?" Tom stuttered, wanting to make sure she knew what she said. His heart banged against his chest as he felt his palms get sweaty as they held Olivia close.
"You heard that?" Olivia's voice nearly got caught in her throat, she slowly looked up at Tom, seeing his brown eyes looking down at her.
"You think?" Tom repeated Olivia's words back at her.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything. I just didn't want to say it and you didn't feel the same way and-" Olivia began to ramble, feeling embarrassed about admitting it to him as she though the reason why he hadn't said it back was because he didn't love her. She tried to pull away from Tom but his hands were around her firmly and were not letting her go anywhere.
Tom cut Olivia off, not wanting her to think any longer that he didn't love her back. "Of course I love you. How could I not? You're the most amazing girl I've ever met and I think I'll ever meet. I'd be stupid not to be in love with you." He let out a light laugh, looking down at the girl, the girl he was hopelessly in love with. A smile appeared on her lips, as a blush had rose to her cheeks.
"You are?" Olivia wanted to be sure.
"I have been for a while." Tom admitted, smiling back at her. He wasn't lying either, he had been in love with her for quite a while, probably even before they got together.
