"Good morning beautiful". Annie slowly opened her eyes and screamed. Gracefully falling off the bed, she gritted out "Parker, what the hell are you doing in my bed?"

"Oh my god. Did you just say hell? Well, well, well little miss queen of the corn cusses." Laughing, Parker hopped out of her bed and said "Relax Annie we just didn't want to go home, god I feel like crap. Remind me why we went to that shady little bar again. Next time I'll just stay home and get toasted there, at least I wouldn't have to worry about getting home. I should go check on Ray my poor baby, he's probably all scrunched up on the couch. He would have stayed in your bed last night with us but he said he didn't feel that we should 'intrude in your space'. I mean come on..."

Annie hastily slapped her hand over Parker's mouth and said "Parker your rambling again. I need coffee.... and painkillers." Leaving the bedroom, she headed towards  the kitchen almost tripping on Parker's boyfriend Ray in the process. Carefully moving around him, she started making some coffee and took a couple advil. Sighing, she walked to the bathroom and started to get ready for another day at the office.

Friday flew by and before Annie knew it, it was Saturday morning. She had the whole apartment to herself, as Tanya went to go spend the weekend with Wes. She fed Lord Darcy and decided to go into the city and spend the day pampering herself. Afterall, between her boss and Deborah she needed a little break to prepare herself for Monday. After browsing though a couple thrift stores and Barnes and Noble,  she walked to Corner Stone Market and headed towards the freezer section and grabbed some frozen dinners. Cooking had never been a strong point for her, she had even managed to do the impossible once, burn water. After grabbing her dinner, she pick up a container of ice cream and went to go check out. Looking over towards the magazine rack, Annie saw a travel magazine advertising a place she never wanted to go back to. Montana. Of course it's Montana. I came here to get away from that place, not be reminded of it.

"Excuse miss? you're next." the man behind her pointed out.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I was spacing out", Annie blushed and moved forward.

"No, it's alright. I zone out a lot too.... My name's Isaac and you?"

"Annie"

"Well Annie, I think we'd better continue this conversation elsewhere. The cashier's glare is becoming more icy than the freezer section".

Annie laughed and pushed back a stray hair.

"Seriously though, any colder and this whole damn store might become frozen wasteland" Isaac chuckled.

"Well how do you suggest we continue this" Annie asked shyly while swiping her card into the machine.

"For starters, how about I give you my number and you give me yours and then we meet up somewhere like a café." Annie took out her phone and gave it to the handsome stranger, and then proceeded to put her number into his phone. Signing her name and collecting her phone and groceries, she smiled at Isaac " See you later".

Entering her apartment. Annie set the reusable bags on the counter and walked over to living room table. Picking up the remote, she pressed the power button and absent-mindedly stared out the window thinking of all the things she needed to get done with Christmas fast approaching. Starting back towards the kitchen, Annie noticed a buzzing noise coming from her purse. She grabbed the bag and walked to the kitchen to put away her unhealthy array of frozen food. Finally done, she turned her attention to her phone and saw a new message had been sent from an unknown number. Thinking back on her previous encounter with Isaac the checkout counter cutie, she typed her pin in five times before getting it right and tapped on the messaging app. " Lonely singles ready and waiting in your area now! Connect with them @ lonely4u.com" Frowning, Annie deleted the message and placed her phone and the counter. Maybe this was a sign from God telling her it's time she get a life outside of her job and reruns of Friends. Shaking her head, she decided to take a nap because what successful and social adult didn't take naps? Laughing to herself at her dismal social life, she pulled back the covers and climbed into to her spacious and luxurious flea market bought futon bed.

Oh would you look at this, an update. An Update of after almost an year and a half a pure nothingness from me. I would blame this situation on illness or not enough time, but that would be a load of bull. Short story turned even shorter because I'm lazy af, I didn't want to continue writing due to having no confidence in my abilities what so ever Buuuuuut, I decided to say screw it and march on through a mindset of doubt and self-hatred. So it's short and I feel like this chapter isn't complete but this is the first step in trying to write again.
