"Samantha get down here and have breakfast! You're going to be late for school!" My Mom yells from downstairs. "Yes Ma'am! I am coming!" I scream from my room.

I get out of bed and look at myself in the mirror, I have long blonde hair with blue eyes and long eyelashes. I always knew I was beautiful but my Mom and Dad insisted that I looked average. I had to cover up my looks, they said it was unacceptable to dress up and wear makeup to impress people. I believed them for a long time. But deep down inside I always wanted to be as pretty as the other girls in school.

I look away from the mirror and look in my closet, I stare at the boring and very average clothes. All polo shirts and knee length skirts. I didn't even go to a school with a dress code but every day I wore the same thing. I put on a light pink shirt and a tan skirt with my favorite brown flats.

I ran downstairs to the smell of blueberry pancakes and bacon. Our maid Cathy was making my fruit salad as I ate my pancakes and bacon. Cathy set down my fruit salad and I gladly gulped it down.

"Samantha! Say 'Thank you' to Cathy right now and have manners! Chew your food! Don't just swallow it whole!" I looked up from my plate. My Mom was staring straight at me, "Yes... Ma'am. Sorry Cathy. Thank you. " I said with food in my mouth. My Mom looked at me mouth wide open, "Young lady! Have you no manners??" "Sorry Ma'am." I said apologetically. My Mom nodded and looked back down at her newspaper.

This was the same situation every single day of my life! I absolutely hated it but I suffered and lived with it. But today I felt different. Today was different.

My Mom sat across from me reading the newspaper and without even bothering to look up from the paper she sighed and said, "Samantha, you had better get going you don't want to be late to class. Hurry up now. I do not want to see a single B on your report card. Come right home and give me the report card. Absolutely no hanging out with boys. Now move along."

That's what everyday of my life sounded like since the 2nd grade. It was horrible I had to get all A's and I had to wear boring clothes and had to come right home after school. That was my life and I was tired of it. Today I wasn't going to come home till I wanted I was going to wear my own clothes and I was going to get a boyfriend.
