You were walking around town with a purpose, eyes large and careful to spot any forms of pink or brown. Three shades of brown, to be exact. You hid behind alley walls, inching your body cautiously before deciding to make a move to walk. There was definitely no way you were about to be dragged out of your will to welcome an orange looking boy from his trip away; no Sir. Not after your whole little stint of calling him good looking before he left two and a half years ago.
It was all the Konoha girls could talk about, making you feel apologetic towards your more shy, white eyed friend who definitely harboured a crush on said boy. It was also all Konohamaru and crew could ever bring up around you too.
No pink or brown anywhere... wait, Kakashi?
Right at the top of your head (or rather on a tree branch), sat an infamous man reading through his book.
He seemed to have noticed you, not bothering for a greeting as his eyes furiously scanned the pages before him. You decided not to greet him too in fear of being caught by the beings you were so desperately running from earlier. You continued your little shinobi escapade before running straight smack into a familiar woman clad in red.
"... What are you doing?"
You gave the older woman a sheepish smile, though your head still moved cautiously inspecting all sides before dragging the figure with you to a dark alleyway.
"Okay. Now you're just being suspicious." The voice spoke again and you gave her a glare. Does she not know the meaning of being covert?!
"I'm just trying to avoid Sakura and Konohamaru and Moegi and Udon, okay? So keep your voice low."
Kurenai sighed. "And my dear sister, why exactly are you avoiding them?"
If there was one thing you didn't liked about your older cousin, it had to be because she was simply terrible at perceiving peoples' emotions. She was an excellent shinobi after all but even shinobis had a personal life damn it!
You found that you couldn't fault her entirely though, as she had always been a source of support for you since your parents were killed in the line of duty against Kirigakure's very own elites. Your Uncle had taken it upon himself to raise you but even he died trying to protect Konoha. Since then, it's just been you and her, treating each other more as siblings than cousins.
Kurenai apparently took the role a little too seriously, being extremely delighted at having to baby after someone else. Sure, there were times where she was overprotective but her disregard of your presence due to a certain Sarutobi clan member in other times only reminded you that she was terrible at keeping her feelings together.
You placed your arms at your waist, giving the woman an exasperated look that she still couldn't understand why you were trying to avoid those four. "Naruto's coming back today and they've been trying to get me to welcome him all morning! I can't do that!"
"Why not?"
"Kurenai, do you not hear me?!" You face palmed at her question. "Why would I have to welcome him?"
This time, the woman laughed. "... Wait. Is this about you calling him handsome before he left for his training?"
"Thank you."
"The more you should welcome him and see for yourself what a stud he's become." Kurenai shook her head and continued laughing. "What are you being all dramatic for?"
