Tall trees continued swarming your sight as the team hurried to Suna. You ran into Temari earlier and the young woman had taken the news badly. Heavy creases adored her forehead and you knew she was worrying more than she should.
"Temari..."
She didn't answer, only choosing to continue ahead. Naruto's rant earlier about the state of the Jinchuuriki's might have taken a toll on her and your lips pursed in frustration at how you were unable to soothe both shinobi's worries away.
Up ahead, Sakura was recollecting the findings she encountered while working under Tsunade to Naruto. You knew they were talking about the possibility of running into Sasuke and the thought somehow displeases you.
Daylight turned to nightfall, with the team unanimously agreeing that a short break was much needed. The team will depart the first thing at dawn as it'll take another day to the hidden village by foot. You rested against a tree, facing the other two females in the group who looked as exhausted as you.
Naruto had went off to a nearby river earlier to freshen up and you wished you had followed him with how sweaty you were. It had been a while since you last went on an overnight mission, your mind recalling your past team members.
"You're going to be tired if you don't get some sleep." Kakashi's warning snapped you out of your thoughts. "It'll be another long day tomorrow."
You tried giving him your biggest smile but the frown still remained on his face, or at least what was visible from the silhouette of his mask anyway. "I'll sleep soon, I promise. Just needed some time to recollect my thoughts."
"Well..." You knew he wasn't satisfied with your answer. "That's fine and all, but sleep soon, okay? I'm heading up to keep watch so if you need anything-"
"Got it. We'll call you if there's anything."
With Kakashi gone, you turned your attention back on the other two, only to find them smirking at you.
"Looks like a lot of things happened while I was on my way to Suna." Temari was the first one to say. "Didn't know you were into older guys, (Y/N)."
"That's not-"
"Oh, I was as surprised as you, Temari." Sakura rolled her eyes. "I've been meaning to ask her but she's been avoiding me all day yesterday."
You glared at the pinkette. "Hey! You know that's not true... kinda."
"Sure, (F/N). Whatever you say. People saw you getting out of his house yesterday in the morning."
"Okay, that's disgusting." The blonde made a face, leaving you to sigh at her antics.
Sure, you might have went out of his house in the morning, but the fact remained that Sakura and the others had been with you two the whole night.
Sakura smirked, pointing a finger at your face. "From what I deduced so far, Kakashi-sensei definitely likes (Y/N), but she's too blind to see! Or maybe Naruto's dashing good looks are what's blinding her to begin with?"
You wanted to refute her argument but the laughter that rang to your right sounded too clear and honest that you felt it wasn't needed. Temari continued laughing, eventually coming to a stop when she noticed yours and Sakura's soft gazes on her.
"... Thanks, guys." Temari closed her eyes, pretending that she didn't saw the affection the two of you held within.
"What are you talking about, Temari?" Sakura continued poking fun at you. "You do agree with me that (Y/N)'s too blind to see, right?"
