I bit the inside of my cheek as i stared out the car window watching light rain drops fall onto the road. "This will be nice" my mother said from the passenger seat and she turned around to smile at me. I sat quietly not bothering to speak. My mother always tried to make things better. But this could not be fixed.
You see. My mother and father both got job offers here in the UK. My mother being a doctor in a new hospital, and my father being a lawyer. They both agreed that it would be a great idea to move. They said and i quote "Scarlet don't be mopey about this. It will be a great experience and a great change of scenery". I scoffed quietly to myself.
Obviously this would be a change of scenery. Were moving from hot sunny LA to cold rainy London.
I watched my father drive onto a new road and i sighed putting my head against the window and closing my eyes.

"Im going to miss you so much!" Abby wailed and threw her arms around me. I frowned and tears slipped down my face as i hugged her. Abby was my only friend. She was my bestfriend. We had been friends since we were 5. 12 years. We had done everything together. She practically lived at my house. She was the only one who ever understood me, she never judged me.
"Im going to miss you more" i sniffled and we pulled back from eachother. "I got you this so you wont forget me" abby said pulling out a beautiful picture frame with pictures of us inside. I smiled big. "This is so beautiful abby!" I hugged her again. "I promise i will text and skype you all the time" i said and she wiped her tears.
My mom then came outside with the last box. "Its time to go Scarlett" she gave a sad smile and walked to the car. I nodded and hugged my bestfriend again. "Go on ya soppy girl" abby joked through teary eyes. "Get a hot british babe and tell me all about it!" I laughed at her words and shook my head then climbed into the car.
My dad then pulled out of the driveway and we drove off. I looked back at my friend and waved goodbye as tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Scarlett. Scarlett. SCARLETT!" My mom yelled making me jump. I looked around confused. "Were here hun" she smiled apologetically. I sighed dramatically and got out of the car.
Luckily it had stopped raining for now. I looked up at my new house and nodded slowly in approval. It was pretty big. And it looked old. But beautiful. Quickly i followed my dad up to the house as he unlocked the door. I went inside and immediately ran upstairs. I was definitely getting first choice on a room. I turned right and walked to the end of the hallway and opened a door. I gasped at the room. It was perfect size for me, and the walls were already painted a light green. My favourite colour. I went over to the window and noticed it was a balcony. I smiled even bigger and ran back downstairs and outside to help my parents. "I call dibs on the far room to the right." I said opening the trunk of the car. My parents laughed and started carrying things inside.
I picked up one of the boxes with my name on it and slowly started walking up the driveway as i heard someone yell. I stopped and looked around then something caught my eye. A boy with a messy fringe walked out of the house next to mine and slammed the door. My eyes widened as he looked over at me. We held eachothers gaze for a few seconds before he clenched his fists an got into his car and sped off.
Well.. This is going to be an interesting first couple days. I sighed and walked inside.
