Chapter 6 - The Accident

Scarlett's POV

I woke up and groaned then stretched across my bed. I then got up and got changed into leggings and a light purple sweater. I then did my hair and brushed my teeth and skipped down the stairs to see my mom looking through the fridge. "Morning mum" i said sitting on the counter. "What are you looking for?" I asked. "Oh just something i could make for breakfast" she smiled. "How about we go out for pancakes?" I smiled. 

I honestly didn't like pancakes but my mom loved them and i wanted to make her happy. "Come on, ill drive us there and ill pay" I smiled. "I don't know hun.." My mom frowned. "pleaseee" I whined. 

After awhile I finally convinced my mom and we we were getting in the car. I actually convinced her i could drive. Just as i put my seat belt on, Nathan came out of his house. I didn't notice i was staring till my mom cleared her throat and said "Is that the guy you were telling me about?" I looked at her then back at Nathan and nodded. "yeah it is" I said and swallowed then looked at my mom. She smiled and waved at him and i blushed. "mommm" i groaned and pulled out of the driveway. My mom laughed in return. "Hes handsome Scarlett." She said making me sigh. "yeah i guess." "Ive spoken to him before yano." She said almost making me slam on the brakes. "What!? No way!" I said looking at her then back at the road as i drove. She laughed again. "I was outside fixing a few things and i seen him so i introduced myself and he was a sweet kid Scarlett. He seems very troubled though, he needs someone to help him." my mother said softly. I smiled faintly and nodded. "Yeah well its hard to  fix someone who's a jerk and wont let anyone in" I mumbled. "Scarlett." My mom said in a warning tone making me sigh. "Sorry mom" I said as she rubbed my shoulder. "Just promise me you'll try and help him? He seems good for you" She smirked making me groan again. 

I drove for awhile longer and realized we were almost there. I smiled and turned a corner and gasped as a car was coming head on towards us. "Scarlett!" My mom yelled. I quickly turned the wheel but it was to late. The car smashed head on with us. I screamed and covered my face with my arms as i heard sickening cracking and crunching sounds and the sounds of glass breaking. I felt myself fly forward to be restraint hardly by the seat belt. I cried out in pain and felt something smash into the side of the car making it roll over so we were upside down..

I weakly opened my eyes. Struggling as it was hard to. I don't know how long i was out. It couldve been seconds, minutes, or hours. I realized i was still upside down in the car and i heard sirens. I coughed weakly and looked over at my mom. She was pale and her eyes were closed and blood dripped down from her head. 

I felt my throat swell up and tears came to my eyes. "M-mom.." I said weakly. I cleared my throat, "mom!" i yelled as tears fell. My moms eyes slowly opened and she looked at me. "Sc..scarlett.." She groaned weakly in pain. "Mom I'm so-" I started but she cut me off. "No scarlett.. don't.. don't apologize. i love you so much okay?" "Mom please don't say that" i cried. "Were going to be okay!" I said. My mom coughed weakly. "I..i love you so much mom." I said looking at her. She smiled weakly. "i love you hun" She coughed up blood and then slumped in her seat as her eyes rolled back. "No! mom!" I cried and tried taking my seat belt off. "Someone help!" I screamed at the top of my lungs then coughed. "please help.." I whispered and then passed out.


2 Days later**

 I woke up and groaned quietly at the brightness of the room. I don't recall my room being this bright. And whats with that annoying beeping sound? Jesus Christ someone get that beeping sound out of my damn ear. 

Slowly i opened my eyes and looked around the room. I was in a hospital. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked down at myself. I had a light blue cast on my forearm. Then it hit me. My mom, the car, the accident. "No no no no" i whimpered and felt my eyes water up. My heart started to race and as it did the machine next to my bed started to beep faster. 

A doctor quickly came into my room. "Scarlett, your awake." He said and came over. "Wheres my mom! Is she okay?!" I yelled and sat up. As i did i felt dizzy and my vision went slightly blurry. The doctor frowned. "Scarlett please relax or well have to sedate you." he said. Just as he did my father walked into the room. His eyes were red and you could tell he had gotten no sleep. "D-dad" i choked and he ran over and hugged me. I hugged him tightly and cried. "Where is mom?" I asked. My dad took a shaky breath and pulled back and looked into my eyes. "Scarlett.. shes.. shes,, shes in a coma." He cried.
