The walk home for Jotaro was quite average. The most extravagant thing to happen was probably a car passing by.
He entered his household residence. Nobody was there at first sight. Taking a few steps in, he could see his mother, Holly Kujo.
"Welcome home, Jotaro!" she greeted with a cheery smile, wrapping her arms around her larger son.
Jotaro grimaced, shoving her aside with a strong push. "Get off me, stupid bitch."
"Okay!" Holly said, walking in front of Jotaro. "Joseph should be in the tea room!"
"He's here already?" Jotaro asked.
Holly nods. "He brought a friend as well."
Jotaro walked further ahead, sliding the door open to the tea room.
Upon entering the room, Jotaro could see his grandfather, as well as another man. He was of a darker skin tone, wearing red robes that probably went down to his ankles. Attached to his ears was a necklace with a golden shimmer.
"Jotaro," Joseph addressed his grandson before signalling to the other man. "This is Avdol, an Egyptian friend of mine." Joseph only faces Jotaro with half of his face.
Avdol turned over. In his left eye was a purple flower. It had a strange shape to it, looking as though it were bursting out. The petals had small stripes on them.
"You...have that flower as well?" Jotaro asks suspiciously, narrowing his eye.
"I do," Avdol replies. "Why ask?"
Jotaro lifts the shadow off of his face. "Then can you explain this?" He mentions the flower.
Joseph looked over as well. In his previously hidden eye, it held a rather bunched up flower of mainly a cream color, the edges of each petal dipped in a magenta coloring. "Jotaro, when did that sprout?"
"Recently," Jotaro answers. "One of the students at my school had a sakura blossom in his eye. He said something about a thing called a 'Stand'."
Avdol stands up. "I see. Yes, it is true that this flower gives us the abilities of ghosts to fight with. Have you ever seen your Stand?"
"I saw its arm." Jotaro recalled the memory to the swinging branch.
Avdol nods slightly. "I can't tell you about your Stand, but I can tell you about that flower." He points at the purple flower in Jotaro's left eye. "Would you like to hear?"
"I would." Jotaro felt as though he needed to listen for once.
Avdol walked closer, studying the flower. "This seems to be a gladiolus..."
"A gladiolus," Jotaro repeated. "Well, I have that, but why do we all have different flowers? The kid at my school didn't know the answer to that."
"Flowers have symbolism," Avdol started. "Each flower symbolizes something in someone's past, present, or future. It can also represent traits."
"Then what does this gladiolus mean?" Jotaro had never asked this many questions before. He was almost embarrassed.
"The gladiolus means strength," Avdol answered. "My flower, the iris, is wisdom, while Mr. Josestar's general carnation means fascination."
"What about the cherry blossom?" Jotaro was reminded of Kakyoin while asking the question.
"The sakura blossom..." Avdol pondered for a moment. "I remember it being a phrase rather than just a meaning."
"Say," Jotaro demanded.
"While life is overwhelmingly beautiful, it is tragically short."
Dinner was a lot more noisy than usual. Holly, Joseph, and Avdol were having quite the discussion while Jotaro quietly sat. Avdols words still rang in his mind. While life is overwhelmingly beautiful, it is tragically short. What did it mean? Jotaro tried not to think too hard about that. It was something to tell Kakyoin later. Instead, he thought of his own flower's meaning. Gladiolus. Strength. Was he strong? Well, that was a no-brainer for him. He took down an entire gang of punks on the streets.
