I turned the page of my book, letting the world unfold. The heroine had just shot a bullet at her friend, knocking the gun out of his mind-controlled hand. She then turned to the main villain and began a speech about how you should treat your subjects with respect and not rule as a dictator.
“Sweetheart, my arm is falling asleep. I need you to sit up for a moment,” Greg asked, gently nudging my arm with his opposite.
“Hang on a sec,” I looked around for my bookmark, placing the small piece of cardboard at the right page. I sat up, allowing Greg to remove his arm from my shoulder.
He stretched his arms out in front of him, the sounds of his joints popping met my ears, and he leaned toward me slightly. He wrapped both arms around me before pulling me into his lap, placing a small kiss on my horn.
I smiled, leaning back into him, and laced my fingers with his. My tail entwined with his and I could feel him bury his face in my hair, a quiet noise similar to a purr coming from him. A small squeal came from the room over, a little girl coming running in and leapt across my lap.
“There's my little girl! How are you doing today, Sienna?” Greg asked, rubbing her head with his free hand.
“Mama! Dada! Can we get a kitty?” She asked, her tail wagging like a dog. I gave her a small nuzzle and kiss on her forehead.
“I'll think about it, princess. Now, can you do me a favor?” I tilted her face towards me.
“Anything mama!”
“Your aunt Betty has been feeling down recently, you wanna go help her? You know how much she loves to see you in your princess gowns.”
“Of course, mama!” With a small giggle, Sienna bolted out of the room. I waved to her as she left but she never turned back.
“Last I checked, Betty wasn't sad or anything. What's the reasoning there, Emo?” Greg questioned, hugging me a little tighter.
“What? A woman can't have any cuddle time with her husband without anyone interrupting?” I wriggle around to look at his face, his green eyes as beautiful as ever.
He laughed and leaned his face towards mine, my heart sending fireworks through my veins. I lifted myself up slightly and connected our mouths in a kiss, one that not only made me melt but made me want to freeze this moment in time forever. He brought one hand to my cheek and gently caressed me with his thumb.
The pillow felt rough on my face, nowhere close to the softness that was my Muffin. I rolled over, falling off the couch, and opened my eyes. Pulling up the database, I checked the time and groaned, slapping my face gently. I threw the pillow at the ceiling and got to my feet.
“Hey, Scourge? Have you seen Britney? I haven't seen her since she was checking up on Greg,” Weiss’ voice came from the clearing.
“Haven't seen her but I will let her know you're looking for her,” Scourge responded, his voice tired and annoyed.
I blinked the sleep out of my eyes and looked at my pjs, my tank top had some cold sweat on it and my shorts were going on a weird leg elevator ride. I readjusted myself and checked the time again, the numbers not really sinking in my head. 10:57 it read, being later than I should've been.
“Fuck,” I muttered under my breath, walking out of the alcove. My hair sat in my face more than usual, but I didn't care. No matter how annoying it would get, if I was tired, it stayed wherever it liked to. I stretched my arms above my head, bending backwards, and hearing my body make all sorts of popping noises.
