Cassie was looking for a job.
However, it seemed much harder than what her parents and her brother, Andrew, implied.
The girl had began with looking for a job in the muggle world, seeing as her family were muggles and had some recommendations. Cassie started with working at a muggle cafe, but got fired after spilling very hot coffee on an already angry customer's legs. The man insisted she get sacked. It was very humiliating for her.
Her next job was at a library, but she was fired there as well, because of dropping books a handful of times and making loud noises. To think, working at a library would've been extremely easy if Cassie just hadn't been so clumsy.
She decided she would rather work in a wizard friendly area, as she had almost used her wand in several occasions in her previous muggle jobs. Unfortunately, she still hadn't found a job in the wizarding world.
Cassie groaned as she entered her brother's house. She was visiting for day to eat lunch with him and his family, and then she would get out of their hair, as they were already busy taking care of their son. Speaking of-
"Auntie 'Assie!" A little boy said, stumbling into Cassie's arms. "Timmy!" Cassie replied to her nephew, holding him as the young boy giggled in delight.
Timothy was Andrew's son and her nephew. He was only two years old old, soon to be three in a month. Although he still had a little trouble pronouncing his Cs and Rs. He looked very similar to his father despite the fact he had the same hair color as his mother, Diana, who was also known as Andrew's wife.
"Go play! Go play!" Timothy said, clapping his hands excitedly. Diana, who was in the kitchen, noticed the noise her son was making and turned to look at her sister-in-law.
"Hello, Cassie!" Diana smiled at her, taking a quick glance at the food she was making to make sure it wasn't ruined. She was a very beautiful woman, who had light brown hair and hazel eyes.
"Hi, Diana. Where's Andrew?"
"At work," Diana replied, turning back to the food as she noticed whatever she was cooking was boiling. "Right," Cassie sighed. Diana noticed her mood and frowned. "No luck yet?" Cassie shook her head.
Meanwhile, Timothy pouted. Why wouldn't his aunt play with him? He needed to get her attention. He put his hands on Cassie's cheeks and turned her head towards him. They were nose to nose as Timothy said, "Go plaaay,"
Cassie laughed. "Sure, Timmy, go play."
"Yay!" The boy cheered as Cassie led him and herself to the back door, and outside to the garden.
Cassie set him down on the ground and he began to run about, pulling Cassie by the hand with him. He directed her towards a pile of toys that were left behind beside a bush.
"You two be careful!" Diana called after them, one hand on her hip and the other using a spoon to stir the food.
"We will!" Cassie said reassuringly. She sat down beside Timothy as the boy showed her some new toys he had gotten from his parents.
Soon, Andrew came back from work and Diana called them for lunch. Cassie lifted her arms to carry Timothy, but he backed away.
"No food! Play!" He said, trying to look angry but Cassie just thought he looked adorable.
"Well, Daddy's home—"
"Daddy?!" The two year old gasped, looking around. Cassie nodded with a smile. Timothy then agreed to be go inside, as Cassie held him in her arms.
Timothy held his hands out excitedly when he saw his father, and Andrew took him gladly and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Hello, Andrew." Cassie smiled at her brother, sitting down at the table. Andrew smiled back with a 'hello', as he joined her. He set Timothy down on a chair, and Diana set the table.
As they ate, Diana started up a conversation as she asked Andrew about his day.
"......and then I told Steve that my name was written on the bottle, but he wouldn't listen, so I let him have it and I bought my own." Andrew said, finishing his little story. Diana shook her head and let out a little laugh, as she made sure Timothy wasn't making a mess of the food.
It was silent for a moment before Andrew spoke again. "So, Cassie, have you found a job, yet?"
"Nope," she sighed. "Still looking,"
"You've tried looking in the wizard world, right?" Andrew asked, although he hesitated before he did, because he forgot that Diana knew about wizards and witches.
"Yeah, although I still haven't looked in some places." Cassie said, taking a bite of food.
"Have you tried that Diagonally place?"
"Diagon Alley," Cassie corrected, but then wanted to hit herself. "Actually, no, I haven't. Oh, I'm so stupid, how could I have forgotten Diagon Alley?"
"Stupid!" Timothy repeated, laughing. Diana tutted. "No, Timmy, that is a bad word. You do not say that."
"Yes, Mummy," the young boy said, nodding like a good little boy. Diana smiled at him as he got food on his face.
They all finished their food and Diana and Cassie washed the dishes as Andrew and Timothy played in the garden. Soon enough, Cassie bid the family goodbye and apparated back to her flat.
She entered it and ran straight to a room that was right beside her bedroom. She liked to call this room, her inspiration. She could sit in there for hours just painting away. The walls used to be white before Cassie covered them in all sorts of splashs of colours. Around the room were plenty of canvases, either plain white or covered in whatever popped into Cassie's head.
Cassie entered her bedroom and took off her coat. She changed into her overalls that she usually worn when she painted. As a result, the overalls looked nothing like the way she had bought them, instead, they were covered in paint in every spot.
Cassie re-entered her art room, and put a canvas on the easel. She got her paint, palette, and brushes out and set them on the table beside the easel. Cassie smiled. She loved this part of her daily routine. She just had to paint, or at least sketch something, every day or she would feel like she would go crazy.
As she let her mind go free, moving her hand that was holding the brush anywhere, she hummed a little song. An hour later, she analyzed her painting. It seemed she had painted a small part of Diagon Alley. But it seemed different.
There were two small figures that Cassie couldn't decipher. One was a male, and the other was a female. From the way they were positioned, it looked like they were laughing. She shrugged, deciding it was nothing. She got up from the stool she had been sitting on to freshen up. She changed from her painted overalls and shirt to simple jeans, blouse, and a cardigan. She was unaware by the fact that she still had a little paint on her hands and, somehow, her face.
It wasn't too late to go Diagon Alley, so that's where Cassie was headed to. She was determined to get a job. She wasn't going to have her family pay her bills.
She walked past many shops and stores, asking some of them if they were hiring, but they all said no. However, when she passed an extremely loud shop that looked very lively, she saw a small sign on the window that said 'Help wanted'. Cassie smiled slightly as she read the name of the shop.
"Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, huh?"
