"Hey Tay," Karlie said, looking up at Taylor from her lap.
"Yeah?"
"You know I'm gonna get more candy than you, right?"
"Karlie oh my gosh, you're 15! Who even cares about candy?!"
"ME, I DO!" she exclaimed, jolting upwards, almost hitting Taylor's jaw.
"Holy shit Karlie, watch it!"
Taylor's reaction filled Karlie with immediate guilt. She flung herself back onto Taylor and grasped her tightly, repeatedly apologising.
"I really didn't mean to Taylor, I'm so sorry. I didn't hit you did I? I'm sorry, I really am!" She said, frantically distressed.
In this instance, actions spoke louder than words. Instead of calming Karlie down with comforting words, Taylor took it upon herself to kiss her. The sensation of Taylor's soft lips soothed all of Karlie's worries and brought her back down to a state of calmness. As their lips parted, they managed to find their way back together again. They took it in turns to kiss each other, before Taylor paused to speak.
"You, Karlie Kloss, are the sweetest piece of candy I've ever tasted."
"Tayyyylloorr oh my god! That's so cheesy!" Karlie giggled.
"Yeah but you love it really, don't you?"
"Mh... Maybe..." Karlie sounded unsure. "Taylor, what does this mean for us?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well like... all the kissing and stuff. I know it's sudden but... friends don't do that."
"If you tell me how you feel about it, I'll tell you what I think about it too," Taylor proposed.
Karlie froze. She didn't know what to say to Taylor. This was all brand new to her; something that just happened in the moment without thinking. But now that it had happened, Karlie was starting to second guess her feelings for her best friend. This wasn't the first Halloween they'd spent together, but nothing like this had ever happened before.
"I didn't think before I did it... I don't know what happened... But I guess you looked really s-sexy and I- I uhm... Yeah," she mumbled.
"Do you like me?" Taylor bluntly asked.
The blusher on Karlie's face wasn't needed anymore. She was as red as a strawberry. Taylor's sudden question pushed her into extreme embarrassment, leaving her at a loss for words. All Karlie did was stutter and stumble upon her own words, as she tried to come to a conclusion. She wanted to give Taylor an answer. She wanted to say yes, but she didn't know how.
Karlie threw herself back into Taylor's arms and nuzzled in. She attempted to mutter her answer into Taylor's shoulder, however, she still found it extremely difficult.
"D-do I have to say it...?" she said, cowering in Taylor's arms.
"Communication is important Karlie. I need to know how you feel."
"Mmmhyes..." she mumbled.
"Was that a yes?" Taylor confirmed.
Karlie didn't want to speak anymore. She'd said enough. As a reply, she simply nodded her head, still buried into Taylor's embrace.
"I'm proud of you for saying that," Taylor said, kissing the top of Karlie's head in a rewarding way. "I've liked you for a long time now. I really do love you Karlie."
"I like you too..." she shyly replied.
"Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we go as girlfriends for Halloween this year?"
The corners of Karlie's lips turned up at the ends. She couldn't contain her happiness to Taylor's idea.
"I'd like that a lot," she said, pulling away to look at her.
Taylor gave her one last brief kiss before suggesting that they headed out for the evening. It was becoming dark and cold, and neither of them wanted to be out for very long. They'd planned just to knock at the houses down the street. Once they'd reached the end, they would make their way back inside to the warm.
"Cmon! Let's get going."
