I thought I lost my only friend
I felt like my heart was ripped
Straight from my chest to your cold hands
Because you left me
I thought I couldn't find my way
I was lost in the dark
And fell into everlasting darkness
Because you left me
I thought I would regret my choices
The blood could wash my sins
And the scars would never truly heal
Because you left me
I thought the sadness would swallow me up
I'd be shaded in unforgiving thoughts
Of guilt, my fault
But
Because you left me
I actually found myself
My heart was still in tact
And my hands tore apart your broken promises
Because you left me
I saw the light in the dark
And followed the path of righteousness
To stand in the blazing sunlight
Because you left me
My choices made me realize
That you have no power over me
They help me remember my lessons from your lies
Because you left me
The happiness lifted me
My mind is an open book
And worry free, your doing
All because you left me
