Hello all! I just wanted to warn people before reading this chapter that it gets sad. This might be the first of many sad parts, but eventually (maybe!!) it'll get better. Thank you all!
Harry sat in his office, getting ready to go home. He needed to get some clothes before going over to Lillian's house.
Once he packed his belongings, he drove the familiar path home and pulled up to the house he shared from his wife in which he had grown oh so distant to.
When he had walked into the house, he looked at the large dining room. There she was, Winter had set the table and made all of Harry's favorite foods. Where he used to sit was a gift wrapped in white wrapping paper.
Harry had forgotten. It was their six year anniversary of their marriage. Winter had already eaten and sat in her seat with tear stained cheeks. It was nearly 10:00 pm.
"Happy Six Years, if you weren't fooling around with other women you would have remembered," she spat angrily.
"If you would be a good wife, I wouldn't have forgotten," he fought back.
"If you were a good husband, this wouldn't have happened," she retorted.
"If you made it easier to breathe in this house, I would have remembered," he shot back.
"If you would just give me the time, I could show you I love you so much," she was not going to back down.
"If you could stop being so whiney, I could stand to be around you," he was not going to let her win this.
"If you would just be here for me, maybe I wouldn't complain," she shot once more.
"If you wouldn't have miscarried my children three separate times I could love you!" He screamed.
There it was. He finally let it out. He finally pulled the trigger to his emotions.
Winter sat there in shock, did he really just blame her for something she could not have controlled. She did everything she could to be healthy and carry those children but each time she lost them. Once at three months, twice at six months. A year ago in three weeks was the last time she lost the baby. And the last time Harry could take it. It was the time he took it the worst.
She stood up and blew past him, tears streaming down her face. All that was heard was a slam of the bedroom door and a gentle locking sound which came from the knob.
Harry knew he shouldn't have said that. But he did blame it on her. She was the one carrying the babies. He sat down at the table, his head in his hands. He knew their marriage was not going to last if they kept it up this long. Maybe he didn't want it to last. He could walk out now, leave his wife and take Lillian. Have a family with her, love her fully. But something kept him coming back to Winter.
He looked at the gift that was wrapped so perfectly. Slowly he started peeling back the paper to reveal what was within it. There was a scrapbook, crafted perfectly. He then realized it was the one she had been making since the day of their first date in high school. He flipped through the pages, smiling faintly at how happy they used to be. He then flipped to the pages that were from three years ago, when they found out they were gonna have their first child and soon after lost the baby. Everyone could see that's when problems started to appear.
He continued to flip to a page where they found out they were going to have a boy, both of them filled with complete excitement. Once again to be put into misery.
Harry could not bear to look at the next ones, so he flipped to the end, where Winter had scribbled a note.
"To my dearest Harry,
I love you so much, you have been a wonderful boyfriend to me, and an even better fiancé. I can't wait to spend many years with you. You complete me. There's no way I would want to live this life without you by my side. You are such a blessing. I am writing this on November seventh, 2012. Our wedding date. You are asleep, so I feel like I should let you know how I feel. You are an amazing wonder of joy, a ball of happiness, and my forever love. Thank you for being you. You are my other half, my missing puzzle piece. I can't wait to grow old with you and to have a family of our own. To have little baby Harrys running around our happy home.
Love,
Your Winnie."Tears were brought to Harry's eyes. And in all honesty, Winter forgot she wrote that in the back of the book.
Harry took the stairs slowly, Winter had already packed a bag for him and left it outside of their bedroom door. There was a note attached.
"Get out," was all that it read. But instead of fighting, he picked up his bag and decided to take himself to Lillian's.
That was all Winter needed to know to continue with her heart wrenching plan. She was going to file for a divorce. Something she thought she would never have to do.
Harry was not going to fight for her, he had already proven that to both of them. So Winter believed she deserved better.
She knew she deserved better.
Author's note
Hello! Now you all know what happened a year ago. I hope you all enjoyed. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, it was going to be sad. But stuff like this happens to people, and I just want to make the book as realistic as possible.
