Chapter Four: The Fight

"He did what now?" Exclaimed Tina after I filled her in on what happened Saturday.

"You heard me. He came over, got mad and we worked on the project." I continued fishing through my locker looking for a spare phone charger, my phone was on 10% and second block hadn't even started. "Got it!" I happily spoke as I pulled out the white cord from underneath my gym shoes. I picked up my bag and started looking for my phone when I heard a locker slam bringing me to my senses once again.

Looking up I saw Tina with her hand on my locker. I laughed nervously, "You okay there Tina?" She didn't look amused.

"No, I don't understand! You have an extremely hot guy practically throwing himself at you, literally, and all you're doing about it is complaining! I mean for God's sake, girl! He was your best friend for the first thirteen years of your life until you ditched him and washed out all of your memories of him! Are you going to do that to me if we decide to stop being friends?" She snapped at me as her face grew red. I watched as other nosey students walked past us trying to figure out what happened. Maybe one of them can figure it out and they can't tell me what happened because I have no damn clue.

This is the second time in the past three days that someone has left me completely speechless, but this was different. Peter is a part of my past that I've done my very best to move on from, but Tina is my present. She is the one who I can go to if I'm upset about someone, but who am I supposed to go to if I'm upset about her? Ben left again, I have a lot of other friends, but none that I trust enough to confide my problems with. She truly has been the one to help me through everything and I mean everything.

I was fighting back hot tears, I really can't deal with being yelled at. This time instead of at least attempting to fight for myself I just stood there watching my best friend as she stared back at me with a long face.

"I'm sorry, Grace. I need to go to class." She gave me an apologetic smile before hurrying off into the opposite direction. What the hell? Why is she defending him? She has spent the past four years only saying bad things about him, what changed?

I let out an audible laugh when I realized it, he got hot. He got really hot. Tina always has been kind of boy crazy and the last time she saw Peter he was going through puberty, had an acne problem and a very cracky voice. A lot has changed since freshman year.

"What's so funny?" A voice said next to me. I turned around and smiled.

"Hey Matthew."

He raised an eyebrow at me, "Am I in trouble?"

"No, why?" I asked.

He pulled me into a hug, "Because you never call me Matthew. What's going on? Why the long face?"

I sighed and took a step back from him, "Bad day. That's all."

"Uh-huh, I see," He gave me a I-have-a-joke-to-cheer-you-up-smile, "Wanna hear a dirty joke?"

"No," I shook my head, "Not in the mood." I picked up my bag and began walking away, but he pulled me back.

"Come on! It's a really good one." He whinged and gave me his puppy eyes and an innocent smile that made me give in. He could easily make me give in with his eyes (I mean they're incredibly dreamy of course), but his smile could melt an ice cube it's so hot.

"Fine, just one."

He cleared his throat and put on his best game face, "Why did the burglar take a shower?"

"I have no clue, no why is that a dirty joke?"

He groaned, "Stop being so difficult and just say 'Why?"
