"Na Jaemin, you are one handsome man," he said to himself, effortlessly styling his toffee coloured hair with a single hand. People walking past him on the street would often stop and stare, and with one wink, smile, or even glance, they would be puddles on the cold floor.

He was knocked out of his thoughts by an arm coming out of nowhere, wrapping around his shoulder and pulling him close. "Yeah, and he's modest, too," the raven haired boy smiled at the people that walked past, although he would have preferred to roll his eyes as Jaemin's selfishness.

Jaemin's three fingers stabbed like a knife in the boy's side, sending the other leaping away with a yelp and clutching the fabric of his orange hoodie.

"Jeno, I swear to god if you hug me like that one more time you'll find yourself six feet under."

Rubbing his attacked ribs, Jeno smiled and said, "You think that was a hug? That, Nana, was a friendly side-squeeze. I can show you what a real hug is like--"

The younger noped out of that street and into SM Entertainment building, bowing to almost everyone he encountered. Yes, almost everyone, because the one person he didn't want to see had somehow caught up to him and was walking backwards and talking to him, speedily manoeuvring his legs to keep up with Jaemin's fast pace.

"Oh come on, Jaemin! You know Renjun's going to ask for me, so what's the point in keeping your hopes up?" Jeno smirked, but soon found himself tumbling backwards over a water bottle left lying on the ground. He hit the ground with a soft oof.

"I keep my hopes way up in the air," Jaemin laughed to himself at the sight of Jeno upside down, confused, with his legs in the air. "So that I won't have to be anywhere near you on the ground."

Scrambling to get back on his feet, the older pushed his sleeves up to his elbows. "I'm the better dancer."

"I'm the better rapper," the other retorted, hurrying towards the dance studio to get there early and set a good image of himself in the manager's mind.

Jeno gasped. "I'm the better runner!"

"Well I'm better looking!"

"Oh yeah?! Well I'm better smarter!"

Jaemin actually had to stop walking for that level of dumb to lumber its way into his head. "Did you just...? Lee Jeno, how dumb are you?!"

Within four seconds, Jeno was up on his feet and scurrying past his annoying friend. Well, calling him his friend was pushing the limits of common sense and sanity.

Na Jaemin and Lee Jeno had been rivals since they were born. In nursery, Jeno had stolen the younger's colouring pencil and used it to poke a frog in the back garden, and so Jaemin had gotten his revenge by covering the other's safety scissors in glue. Of course, Jeno being carelessly curious of the world around him, he tried to cut his hair, only to end up with half a fringe, gluey hair, teary eyes, and a laughing Jaemin.

Ever since then, they'd had a pointless rivalry of trying to be better than the other and ruin them in the meantime.

Kicking Jaemin in the back of the knee, making him fall to the floor with a noise of surprise, Jeno beamed and opened the door to the dance studio. "Dumb enough to think that wouldn't stun someone like you! I guess I'm just," he sighed, patting his chest proudly. "Too clever for you."

~♡~

"Okay, Na Jaemin?" The manager of the dance studio, a preppy boy called Mark Lee, sat with his legs crossed on a desk chair, spinning in circles as he called out names to take the register.

The toffee haired boy smiled perfectly, a few others in the room staring in awe at such a breathtaking smile. "Here, fortunately."

"Lee Jeno?"

Jaemin scoffed and said, "Here, unfortunately."

The room was wide and spacey with two rows of desk on the far side where most people were seated. On the front row was Minseok, Jongin, Minho, Yixing, Jeno, and a few others. The row at the back had more people including Jaemin, Rowoon, Heechul, and, again, a few others.

Jeno faked a gasp, slamming his hands down on the desk he was perched on and turning his head. "Banana Jaeminnie Mouse how dare you!"

Jaemin obviously couldn't help replying, narrowing his eyes. "Jelly Jenoah's Ark, shut your mouth!"

"Woah," Chenle, a cute Chinese boy, scooted along the long desk to move to Jaemin's side, the latter immediately latching onto his arm for comfort. "You still call each other that? It's been years!"

Jisung then appeared, Jeno doing the same to his arm. "How sweet."

"He's not sweet..." Jeno mumbled. "I am, though. Sweeter than Renjun, and he's pretty damn sweet."

"Modest too," Jaemin mocked his rival's earlier words in a sing-song tone, Mark rolling his eyes and continuing calling out the names. "Besides, no-one's sweeter than him."

"Okay, listen up!" Mark shouted and everybody stopped talking straight away. The last time they continued talking, it ended with a summer fight with another idol he was the manager of - Haechan. There were rumours about the two of them, but nobody got the cause of it right. Who knew that such a big event could be caused by an idol talking when their manager said not to?

"As you know, Huang Renjun is in need of backup dancers for his new song, Go. I know there are a lot of you," his voice was strong as he eyed the large room filled with equally brilliant dancers, "but I've come to a final decision."

"It's going to be me, Nana." Jeno was so sure of himself as he dangerously leaned back to whisper in the other's ear, although his aim was off and so he ended up speaking just in front of the corner of his mouth. The heat and the current sensitivity of his lips caused his face to turn red, but he was sure he was heating up from how angry Jeno made him. It was anger, right? Of course it was.

Jaemin blew a raspberry to cover up his flustered state. "You wish."

Mark, the angel's manager, said, "For Renjun's backup dancers, I've decided to pick Na Jaemin--"

"Suck on that, you spanner." The toffee haired boy stuck out his tongue at his raven-haired rival.

"-and Lee Jeno-" he eyed the interrupting boys.

"Time to throw a spanner in the works, then!" Jeno smirked back, feeling victorious when Jaemin's ears turned redder with fury this time.

"Renjun is waiting in dance room four for you both. Of you go!"

When Na Jaemin first met Renjun, he was swept away by him. Well, it turns out Lee Jeno felt the same way.

But who would get his attention?

The better dancer, of course!
