The most bizarre thing to ever happen to Jeno happened today, and as lovely as the gesture was, he found himself frozen.
"Jeno," Renjun said quietly, hands fidgeting in his pockets as he failed to make eye contact with the taller. "I, um... I've been meaning to talk to you about something."
About seven hours ago, Jeno would have found this side of Renjun absolutely adorable, but something was just not clicking inside his brain. Sure, the brunette's flushed cheeks and awkward attitude was endearing, but for once it didn't make his heart combust.
The smaller inhaled and squeezed his eyes shut to gather all the courage he had, and after a few seconds, he blurted out, "Will you go out with me please?" All in one string came his words, and that string immediately wrapped around his heart and pulled at it.
He swallowed. "You what?"
"I don't know!" Renjun shouted and contemplated turning and leaving, but now was his chance and he wasn't going to let him down. "I just, I just think that you're a really good dancer and you're really kind and, um... Th-This is quite nice," he said awkwardly as he gestured to Jeno's face, mumbling something about 'nice arrangements.'
Jeno blanked at him. "Are you kidding me?!"
"W-What?" The older stuttered.
Jeno ran a hand down his face and groaned. "I can't," he answered, picturing a certain toffee-haired boy's smile. "I've already got someone."
Renjun clenched his fists and took a step forward, and the raven-head tried to take a step backwards to combat this but all his heels felt was a wall behind him. "I've seen the way you look at me! You mean to see you've never liked me?"
"No, I jus--"
"It's Jaemin, right?"
"Yes, so--"
Renjun scoffed. "He can't be that good! Break up with him then!"
The world stopped for Jeno and he looked down at his favourite idol in confusion. This wasn't the Injunnie he knew. "No," Jeno said with furrowed eyebrows.
"Why not?!"
"Because," Jeno started and gently pushed back on Renjun's shoulders to get some room between them. "He's genuine twenty-four seven, his smile is like a dagger in my chest, and I think my 'crush' on you was actually a cloud between Jaemin and I. I've never known this side of you, Renjun, and I'm not quite sure I like it."
Renjun just stared wide eyed at his back up dancer, and silence was all that followed before the shorter broke out into a huge beam. "Brilliant!" He announced and whipped out his phone.
Bringing up texts, he shot a quick message and put it away. "Aw, Jeno, you're sweet," the older smiled again and looked at the door as it flicked open and Jaemin, looking like an entire diamond, Lucas, Johnny, and Taeil came in the room, each of them with pleased grins on their faces.
"What is going on?" The dancer asked as he looked over at Jaemin, his heart thumping wildly as he ran towards him and engulfed him in a hug.
Jaemin buried his face in the crook of his boyfriend's neck as Lucas explained. "Basically, for the past week or so we've being on Operation: Nomin!" He shouted with his fist in the air.
"We couldn't stand to see you so close and just a tiny bit disjointed, and when Johnny and Taeil started plotting, we were all in on it." Renjun added as Lucas dropped his arm around his shoulder and pulled him in for a quick side hug and let him go.
"But now you passed the test! If you accepted Renjun's request and broke up with me, though, I would have killed you. Right here. On this spot." Jaemin pulled back with a dead serious expression.
Jeno finally smiled when he realised what was going on. "Oh! This was all a set up! Thank god," he laughed. "I'm not good at saying no to people--"
"But what you said was amazing! Thank you!" Jaemin cuddled into the taller again.
Everybody fawned over how cute they were together, and as they spoke Jaemin revealed that Renjun had done the same to him an hour before.
"Alright," Johnny began, silencing the group. "I have a confession to make."
Taeil looked up at him. "What is it?"
"Taeil and I have been going out for a while now."
Taeil blushed and slapped his arm. "How could you?!"
"Same here with this absolute squish," Renjun said and pinched Lucas's cheeks.
Taeil calmed as he looked at them. "And Sooman hasn't said anything?"
Renjun shrugged. "Don't know, don't care."
Jeno smiled. Why should they care?

"...You know you'll never beat me, right?"
Jeno's words made Jaemin throw his plush at his face, the sudden force making him roll onto his back. The younger groaned exaggeratedly and dropped his controller into his lap. The two had been playing Fifa for over an hour, and even when Jeno had dumbed down his skills, Jaemin couldn't beat him.
"I will! J-Just let me get better first!"
It's safe to say Jaemin never beat Jeno.
A week later when their first performance was scheduled, all three boys got onto stage with beaming smiles. The choreography was perfect. Not just that, actually, but everything was.
As Renjun took centre stage, Jeno and Jaemin looked at each other with a smile. Just because they were together didn't mean they couldn't battle against each other!
The End
