Legend of the Okami Love

Chapter Three-Unexpected

It's been a couple of weeks, and I have been sneaking out everyday to meet Crescent. Each time, I brought my sketchbook, and each time I either drew her or me as an okami. Except when I drew my cousin Brittany as a neko the other day but that's besides the point. The point is, I started to have feelings for Crescent. So...I decided to do something that could either go great or terribly, terribly wrong.

"Cres?"

"Hm?" I found out she likes to draw as well, so we usually sat up there, just drawing.

"Would you like to come to my house for dinner tomorrow?" Her head snapped up and her eyes showed shock.

"Y...you want me over for dinner?" I nodded. She squealed. "Of course! Your family won't hate me...will they?" I laughed.

"As if. I'm more worried about that my family will embarrass me completely." She giggled. My phone went off and I saw a text message from my cousin, Britt.

'connor, we r coming over tomorrow...gotta tell u something...prob won't c u afterwards...gtg now bye!' Her texts were always weird but this one was just...creepy? What did she mean she probably won't see me after tomorrow? I sighed as I caught the time.

"I have to go now." Crescent pouted.

"Awww. Ok. Bye, Connor." She went to give me a hug as usual, but then she gave me a kiss on the check but blew it off as though it was nothing. Did I imagine it?

The next day was a little crazy to say the least. Mom was making dinner and Brittany and the rest of them (her younger sister Julia, her mom, Dawn, and her stepdad who's my uncle, Jake and Jakes to kids Tyler and Shanya who are twins) decided to come at the beginning of the day. They all looked a little uncomfortable, especially Brittany who seemed to be trying to hold something in. I left quickly to get Crescent and came right back. You could tell she was surprised by all the people there.

"Cres, this is my family. That's my mom, my dad, my older brother Cody, my younger sister Carlee, my four cousins, Shanya, Tyler, Brittany and Julia, my uncle, Jake and my aunt Dawn. Everyone, this is my friend Crescent."

"Nice to meet you all. Wow...ten people...this is the most I have seen in one room." We all chuckled and Brittany walked over to Crescent, and they both shared some kind of look. What the...? Brittany leaned over to whisper in my ear.

"Be careful about her. Trust me, we don't need to be in the same boat." I looked at her confused but she shrugged it off. The three oldest of my family seemed like they were in on the secret as well, while Carlee was playing with Julia. The rest of the night was uneventful...until I took Crescent home. It was then I decided I would tell her how I feel about her.

"Umm...Cres?"

"Hmm?" I messed with my hair.

"I uh...I gotta tell you something." She sighed.

"Me too. You first." I took a deep breath.

"I really like you, Cres. As more than a friend." She smiled widely.

"Connor...that's exactly what I was going to tell you!" A yawn broke her grin.

"You should get home. It's late." She rolled her eyes.

"Ok, ok. Goodnight, Connor."

"Night, Cres." She kissed me on the cheek and then ran off, but not before I saw the blush covering her face.

The next day I left at the sake time as always, but unlike always, she wasn't there yet. Oh well. I got my sketchbook out and started drawing again. I drew Brittany as a neko again, and was just starting to realize it when I heard noises form above. I caught a glance of midnight hair before she landed on me and kissed me.

I will admit, it wasn't my first kiss. I was so unexpected, that I really reacted without thinking. I kissed her back, but yelped in pain and pulled away as she bite my lip hard, drawing blood.

"I'm sorry Connor, I'm so sorry." I looked at Crescent to see tears running down her face. I sat up and tried to hug her, but she pulled me away.

"It's ok, Cres. It's just a cut, it will heal." She shook her head.

"Not for that...for changing you." I was confused until grey furry wolf ears and and black wolf tail with a grey tip suddenly showed up. She started to cry harder and I remembered something Brittany had told me a long time ago.

-FLASHBACK!!!-

"They kiss you then bite you, leaving two little marks on the inside of your lips to exchange blood. After that, your either a neko or an okami. There's no way to change it."

-DONE!!!-

So I was an okami now? Cool!

"Cres...Cres it's ok. I don't mind being an okami." She looked up slightly, a sample watery smile coming to her lips.

"Really?" I nodded. She sighed. "But...I have to leave. And you can't every find me. My eyes widened.

"Wh-what?!"

"Once we change someone, we have to go an never look back. But we also can't love humans, that's why I did it. Please don't look for me..."

"Wait!" I grabbed her arm as she went to leave and turned her around, kissing her instead. I wasn't going to listen to her, I would find her. She pulled away after a little while and flipped from the branches, landing and running. But...

She looked back.

I sighed as I walked in the door.

"Mom! I'm home!"

"Connor! Dinner is- OH MY GOD!" She dropped the plate of food and it broke on the floor.

"Mom? What's wrong?" She reached a shaking hand out to the top of my head, and, instead of touching air, I felt her touch something on the top of my head. I reached up myself and felt an ear.

I ran into the bathroom and looked. Sure enough, I had a pair of brown wolf ears and a brown fluffy tail with a white tip. Cool!

Guess what's not cool...

School starts tomorrow.
