WINGS
I walk a lonely road,
Only to discover the wings I bare are not for flight but for freedom.
Yet I still find chains wrapped around my soul.
I scream in pain, knowing nobody can hear me.
BEHIND THE HOOD
I live in the shadows,
Not to hide my face, but to hide my pain.
Not to fall to weakness, but to stand with strength.
Not to stop happiness, but to refuse anger.
I live this way with my shoulders covered and a hood over my head.
LONELY EYES
I stared into your lonely eyes only to get lost in your soul.
Only to discover what I thought to be true beauty.
Only to find out in the end, we are strangers.
I always wondered where the light from your eyes had disappeared to,
or if it had drained away completely.
Only now do I realize that I am staring into a mirror.
Looking at myself, looking into my own eyes.
But still, in the end we are strangers...
