The first time Namjoon meets Hoseok, it's because his mother unwillingly drags him out of the house after forcing him to help clean the attic.

Namjoon had been so engrossed in his studying at the time that his mother begged him to just get up and do something else - so sorting through his mountain of possessions in the attic it was.

They'd managed to throw away most of the hoarded items; old textbooks, broken electronics and dusty CDs to name a few, but Mrs. Kim thought it best that the old toys he no longer wanted from his childhood days could be donated to the local orphanage.

That's where Hoseok sprang into his life.

One minute Namjoon is whining about carrying the heavy box of toys that's blinding his view of his scuffed-up converse, the next he's lifting his head up and being blinded instead by a literal ray of sunshine.

"Hello! Welcome to the Butterly Orphanage, how may I help you?' the boy greeted cheerfully, a smile carved by angels gracing his features. "Uh... hi!" Namjoon grinned goofily, jaw going slack. The boy in front of him - only a curved, wooden desk between them - was utterly gorgeous. His eyes shone with a comforting warmth, crinkled slightly when he smiled, and his recently dyed-red hair bounced slightly as he moved; Namjoon briefly wondered how soft the strands would feel between his fingertips.

His thoughts were cut short when his mother suddenly spoke up, making his cheeks flush red, completely forgetting that she was the one being greeted and not him. "Hello! We've brought in some toys to donate today" she smiled back, nudging Namjoon to snap him out of his staring and hand over the box.

"Thank you so much, the kids will really enjoy these!" the boy behind the counter gleamed, his fingers barely brushing Namjoon's yet he still felt his stomach swarm with butterflies at the mere contact. "Um yeh, no problem!" Namjoon blushed before bringing his hands timidly behind his back, looking down at the floor embarrassed.

They'd left soon after, Namjoon kicking himself for not even asking the boy his name. Though, as his mother began talking about how nice it would be to work there whilst driving home, an idea stuck in Namjoon's mind...

-

"You want to... do voluntary work?" a kind worker asked with a smile - sadly not as bright as the boy Namjoon had been hoping to be met with. Nonetheless, she gave off the same calming aura when Namjoon returned back to the orphanage the following weekend.

"I think it would be good for my work experience, but I also thought about giving back to the community after coming here last time. I imagine it must be hard living in an orphanage" he rubbed his neck. The girl only seemed more than happy to sign him on for some weekend shifts.

"I'll put you on the same timetable as Hoseok. He's one of the the main guys around here so he'll show you the ropes" she outstretched her palm, shook his hand pleasantly, and then the boy of Namjoon's gaydreams entered the reception to greet him (again).

"Ah, it's you! I'm Hoseok, welcome to the team!" his smile radiated pure joy to the point where Namjoon's cheeks were sore from smiling back at him. But you wouldn't find Namjoon complaining anytime soon.

"Welcome to your first day! I think it's great that you're here to volunteer, it's a lot of fun!" Hoseok's shining eyes welcome him the next day, and Namjoon would be lying if the warm blush visible across the boys nose didn't make him feel slightly weak in the knees. "Ah you know, it's a better use of my time than laying around doing nothing" he shrugged. Hoseok laughed at that - an adorable giggle that made Namjoon's heart flutter even more - before nodding his head in agreement. "I'm good at procrastinating too, studying after work just gets so tedious!".
