The small slit between the drawned curtains wasn't allowing her to sleep. Despite of her thousands of attempt to not look at that direction, her eyes, as if they had their own accord, were continuously wandering towards it. The whole room was drowned in darkness except a thin beam of light, which was peeping inside the room through that gap. How many times did she try to gather some courage and get up from the bed to draw the curtains fully but the fear wasn't allowing her.
She kept on tossing and turning on the bed, trying hard to get some sleep but failed miserably. Every time she closed her eyes, she felt like someone was watching her through the glass window and her closed eyes would open immediately, moving towards the slit automatically. Her heart was beating like crazy with fear. All kinds of scary and cadaverous possibilities were bugging her, shooing her beauty sleep away.
After hell lot of efforts, Khushi finally gave up on her tries and sat up on the bed with a loud groan. She glanced at the right side of the bed only to find her husband sleeping like a log, with his usual hand-under-head pose. Few strand of hairs were falling on his forehead, making him look even more cuter.
"Ughg, look at him! Sleeping so comfortably after selling all his horses and donkeys. And here it's poor me, who can't even get a wink of sleep yet." Khushi muttered irritatingly looking at her husband.
"Hey Devi Maiya! What should I do? I can't sleep at all. And on top of that, these weird feelings are also eating me up. I am feeling so afraid. It feels like as if someone is continuously staring at me. What should I do? This place is also so strange and aghast. I shouldn't have accompany Arnav-ji here. Had I listen to him and stayed back at Shantivan, I would have been sleeping soundly by now instead of getting afraid here." She pouted, twisting her mouth and peeked at the void between the curtains, from the corner of her eyes.
So, what actually happened was, Arnav was coming to Mumbai to finalize a deal and attend a workshop. Although Khushi would accompany him in his every tour but this time, he was a little reluctant to take her with him. Reason? Because AR's pent house was under renovation and Arnav didn't like to stay in hotels or guests houses due to reasons which were only known to him. Aman had already informed him about renting a flat for him where he would stay.
Now, Arnav knew that Khushi won't be comfortable at a different place and she would be facing problems. Moreover, this trip was really a hectic one and he didn't have much spare time to spend with her. Although, he knew that Khushi is not a child and could take care of herself but even than, his protective instincts were a little anxious about leaving her all alone at the flat and going for work.
So Arnav tried his best to make his wife understand but the stubborn soul that she was, she wasn't ready to let him go alone. Reason? Because Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada didn't want her handsome hubby to be surrounded by those slim, sleek, gorgeous but clingy models who used to wear clothes that left nothing to hide and were always ready to throw themselves on him. No! It wasn't like Khushi didn't trust her husband. She did and that too, with all her heart but she didn't trust the chudails, who were always around him. That's why, she was adamant on accompanying him and at last, Arnav had to surrender in front of her.
And now, the couple was there at Mumbai, staying in a small yet cozy, three bedroom apartment which didn't appear cozy to Khushi at all. As soon as she stepped inside the flat, she instantly termed it as a weird and stupid place, making Arnav roll his eyes at her. She didn't even stay back there and accompany him to his office, refusing to live there alone without him. And the poor, love-sick hubby didn't have any other choice than complying her wish.
A small 'thud' sound brought Khushi put of her thoughts. She squeaked and jumped in fear, putting a hand on her fast beating heart and looked towards the glass window with fear written all over her face. Her eyes were wide with shock and throat had went dry.
