15th October

Gentle rain tapped against the angled window that rests in the roof above me; allowing me to peacefully wake up.

My attic room, although not very large, engulfs me in a blanket of comfort. Aesthetics for this room were well thought out and chosen with care so that I could rest happy knowing everything was just how I wanted it to be.

As I open my eyes and adjust to the light, I sit myself up with my left arm while leaning to reach over and grab my phone with my right hand. The familiar sensation of grasping my phone (or my 'life support machine' as my dad calls it) allows my hands to feel they have a purpose again; instantly reaching for the home button.

My background, which changes very regularly, has an autumnal aesthetic to it. The time 8:36 fades onto my screen, lighting up my face with the orange tinge of my lock screen.

Monday mornings are questionable, especially autumn mornings.
They bring; an appreciation for the walls that shield the cold, comfortable and warm pjs along with the smell of festivity.

"Morning Soph!" my mum beams from downstairs, her smile evident in every syllable. She could clearly tell I was up from the inaudible morning-grunts I made in the process of getting my phone.

"Morning ma, is there any washing to be done?" I project as loudly as my morning voice can manage.

"Only a few bits, your dad did most of it" my mum chuckles, for my father doesn't particularly like doing the laundry.

"Alright, I'll be down in a minute" I hummed, as I chuffed slightly due to the very Welsh phrasing I just used.

I live in Bristol, but my mother and father are not originally from here. My father is a through and through Welsh man, and my mother grew up near Dorset; leaving me with a unique accent. The 'Bristolian' accent never quite rubbed off on me, so to my friends I have always been the one with the out of place accent.

I don't mind though. I think it's quite cool to come from different areas of the UK.

By the end of my silent laughter I was at the end of my bed not quite prepared to leave, but eventually pulling myself up off the cloud of comfort. That brought me directly in view of my centred mirror placed on my wall that engulfed my presence.

My oversized PointlessBlog shirt going to just above my knees did a good job of keeping me warm beneath the covers last night, but now I was going to have to abandon it.

The carpeted floor beneath my feet welcomed my every step with a cushiony texture, making me feel even more sleepy. Uh oh.

I found a grey jumper hung up on outside of my wardrobe, due to the fact I had recently bought it and I wanted to wear as soon as possible. I always do that with new clothes.

Slipping it on over top of my now almost bare body, apart from my burgundy bra and boxer like pants, I made my way over to my sock drawer. After locating my favourite ankle socks & swiftly putting them on I spotted some light blue joggers and also slipped them on.

I could feel my now very lose bun weighing down on the back of my head, so without the need of a mirror, I snappily put my hair into a loose ponytail.

By now, already near the bottom on my stairs, I realised I had forgotten my phone & practically sprinted back up to grab it. When doing so I noticed my screen lighting up with an Instagram notification:
