When I woke up the next morning I headed downstairs to get some breakfast and returned to my room with the plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon the cup of orange juice. I even had cold Gnocchi with it. Once breakfast was finished and I threw the cup in the garbage and put the plate in the trash. I took a shower, changed, and packed to head to the next event. Which would be a live event.
Once I got to the hotel I noticed Nikki was alone and crying.
I debated back and forth as to whether or not to approach her and see what was the matter. But my manners and etiquette won out. "Hey." I greeted. "Now I know I shouldn't ask but I'm just curious as to why you're crying?"
She stood up from sitting on her suitcase and hugged me.
"Read for yourself." She handed me her phone and it was open to Twitter more specifically to her feed.
I read a tweet by Cena, 'I still love Nikki but she was too needy and, demanding.' I read. I couldn't believe it. He loved her but that only gave credence to my theory that he didn't really love her. And only cared about his own popularity. "Huh." I sighed. "Where's Brie?" I asked her.
"She has her own room." Nikki sniffed. I weighed the options available to us. But I couldn't just let her stay by herself today or tonight.
"Nikks. Get up and snag your bags." I said as softly but firmly as I could. And she did as told. "You're going to stay with me from now on." I wrapped my free left arm around her shoulder and held her close as I checked into the hotel. Once we were given key cards, we headed to the assigned room. Nikki was broken up over Cena' tweet. "Nikki. Please look at me?" She did. "If he's dumb enough to tweet that. Then he doesn't deserve your tears or your pity." I rubbed her left shoulder. "If I may say so. I always wondered what it would be like to have you as a girlfriend."
She smiled weakly, "Really?"
I nodded.
Once we reached my hotel room, "You take the bed and I'll take the floor."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I've slept on worse things." I set up shop on the floor as she sat on the bed. I could tell she was watching me. But I didn't let it bother me. Tonight for the live event we were in Detroit, Michigan. And after I was done putting some spare blankets from the closet on the floor I snagged my arena bag and she snagged a small suitcase. We then made our way to the arena.Once at the arena, we headed to my locker room and got ready for the night's match. Brie arrived almost thirty-five minutes before the match started. I didn't even try to scold her because I knew whatever I said she would have spun around and used against me in a lie to Bryan. Nikki and I went to catering and just sat and watched an interview with Trish and Lita. After the interview, we headed to the gorilla as me and the twins were supposed to go out to the ring first before Rousey and Natalya. Nikki and I were unable to figure out what was wrong with Brie. She seemed distracted about something.
Finally, before we were to head out to the ring I just looked at her and said, "Brie. I understand you're worried about something that's none of my business but you have a match in mere minutes. So could you at least try and focus."
She nodded. I smiled but I should have known better than to take her word for it.Twenty minutes into the match, like clockwork. Brie botched a forearm spot with Rhonda and I tapped Nikki on the back and she looked at me and we knew she needed to learn that nobody could cover for her every time she screwed up on something. So when Rousey was tagged in Nikki was knocked off the apron and into me. After Brie was locked in one of Rousey's armbars and tapped out, therefore, giving Rousey and Natalya the win. We headed to the back. I was less than pleased with Brie's scattered thinking even though she promised to keep her focus on the match. And I was brutally vocal and blunt with what I had to say to her.
"What the hell was that out there Brie?!" I asked her. "That has to have been a record-setting botch job. What was that, your 169th botch job in two months?" Nikki was even feeling my disappointment with her sister. "If you want to ruin your career. That's your business. But Nikki already has one person trying to destroy her career and she doesn't need her sister to help with that." I headed to my locker room to try and calm down.
That Monday Brie was a no-show and Natalya touched on Nikki's sex life with Cena and as expected. Nikki had a tantrum. She walked to the ring to fight both Rousey and Natalya without Brie. I just headed back to the locker room which earned me some scorn from the fans. But what really earned the hatred of the WWE universe was that I took the following week off before Survivor Series.
When I returned the Sunday of Survivor Series. Brie was mad at me and Nikki was too but in a way, humbled after facing overwhelming odds without me and her sister who apparently went and told Bryan what I said only a week prior to my disappearing act this past week. But since I wasn't allowed at ringside during the match I just observed the match from the gorilla. Before any real trouble started happening with Brie's botching habit. Bryan walked up and punched me in the jaw. "Still fighting your wife's battles for her I see." I said rubbing my jaw.
"You better be nice to her Boyce."
"Quit coddling her and I'd consider it. But until you stop fighting her battles for her she'll never learn to be an adult, so in other words, Kiss off."
I continued to observe the match and he angrily walked away. Nikki picked up the victory for the Twins and just looked at Brie then started walking up the ramp and to the backstage area. I knew the look she gave Brie. It was one I've given Brie for her insurmountable number of botch jobs. When Brie finally reached the gorilla. "Well, you now have a lot of time to work out the ring rust you have and like to blame for your botch jobs. Because starting tomorrow you will be reporting to the Performance Center three times a week and have been relegated to NXT until further notice." I told her.
"What about Nikki?" Brie asked.
"She's staying on the main roster with me. And I'm sure she has learned her lesson about letting her anger get the best of her when someone mentions Cena or their former sex life. Haven't you Nikks?" I asked her. She nodded.
"That's not fair!" Brie complained.
"Life's not supposed to be fair. Get used to it." Nikki and I left Brie alone to consider her mistakes and what she could do to work out the ring rust."Daniel."
"Hmm?" I asked.
"I was wondering if you had any plans for the holidays?"
"Why?"
"Well. I know that you work on the holidays so I thought I would invite you to spend the holidays with my family." I was never one to give credence to any holiday that promoted love towards your fellow man. Ever since Katherine I rarely celebrated any holiday.
"I'll make you a deal. If I come to your family's home for Thanksgiving, you will spend the Christmas holidays with me at my home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. That's my first, last and only offer. Take it. Or leave it." I could tell she was thinking it over very hard. She then grinned.
"Deal." She extended her hand and I took it and shook her hand.
"Don't make me regret this."
"You won't." She promised.
