THE FIRST FEW classes of the day was boring for Lillian, she knew most of the American History. Lillian is at the top of her class along with Toni, even though most of the teachers at south side high don't care about they're students, she still love to learn.

English was her favorite. As she sat in her last class of the day with her best friends and the new face at Southside High, Jughead Jones.

As her favorite teacher Mr. Phillips talked to the class, her eyes drifted to Sweet Pea who was sitting on the desk table.

"Fahrenheit 451," Mr. Phillips said, snapping Lilly out of her gaze, "by one of my favorite authors Ray Bradbury."

"Let's start with the title," the handsome English teacher said as he walked pass Lilly's desk and leaned against his at the front of the class.

"Can anyone tell me its significance?" The teacher asked, of course Lilly knew this one.

She raised her hand and Mr. Phillips chuckled, "anyone else but Lilly?"

"What? Damn it!" Lilly jumped at the yelling of Sweet Pea. He kicked the chair and stormed out of the class room with nothing but rage.

Mr. Phillips let out a sigh before continuing his teaching, "people there's a burning book on the cover..."

Lilly put her things in her bag and also walked out of the room, going after her best friend with worry.

She knew what was going on, she always does when it's about Sweet Pea. The brunette walked down the worn out hall way, passing the lockers which lacked some doors or had a couple dents from some fights.

She entered the boys bathroom and saw Sweet Pea leaning against a sink, "Hey, Sweets," she walked towards him, "everything okay?"

He let out a sigh before looking at the small brunette in front of him, every time he looked into her eyes, he felt something but wasn't sure what it was.

"Stuff at home," he answered, "mom is off the rails again, and dad he's just a drunk piece of shit that abuses her."

Lilly felt a wave of sadness, she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. His hands slithered around her waist holding her tight like she was going to fall out of his embrace.

"I'm sorry, Sweetie," Lilly said in a hushed tone. Her voice calmed him when he was angry, she was the only one who could really control him.

"Don't be sorry for me, Lils," The tall, tanned boy said as he took in her scent of lavender and honey. "You know I'm use to it by now."

She unwrapped her arms and placed her hands on his shoulders, "I don't want you over there, I'm scared you are gonna get hurt, I'mma talk to mom and see if you can stay with us."

Sweet Pea gave her a small smile which warmed her heart. The loud sound of the rigging bell caught their attention.

Sweet Pea let go of the small girl and she grabbed her bag from the bathroom floor before walking out with Sweet Pea.

They walked to their worn down lockers. Sweet Pea leaned against the one next to Lilly's locker.

"I'm gonna go find Fangs and the gang," Sweet Pea spoke, "I'll catch up with ya later."

Lilly nodded and watched him walk away, she then saw her pink haired friend walking towards her with a smile.

"Wanna help me and Jughead in the schools newspaper room?" Toni asked.

"They are re opening the red and black?" The brunette asked, Toni nodded as Lilly closed her locker door.

The two girls then made they're way to the room where they would find Jughead. When they walked in, the room was filled with books that looked like they weren't touched in decades.

Cobwebs hung at the corners of the room and dusty tarps covered things on the worn out wooden tables.

Boxes stacked on some of the tables, filled with paper.

Jughead moved one of the tarps making dust fly in the air. The three coughed and Lilly let out a couple sneezes, "Well it's no New York Times." Jughead said.

"But hey," Toni chimed in, "kudos for finding your safe space, snowflake."

"Yeah," the young boy let out a scoff, "all I need now is a photographer with an amazing eye and a hunger for social justice," he looked at Toni as she smiled, "and I think I'll be set."

Lilly's had a grin as she went through some books. Suddenly, the door opened to see Fogarty and Sweet Pea with some other kids from their serpents.

"Topaz, Lilly," Sweet Pea said, "let's bounce."

Lilly grabbed her bag before Sweet Pea took it and sling it on his shoulder before looking at the other male in the room, "Jones, you wanna come with? We're going down to the quarry."

"Uh, I don't have my beach bod yet." Jughead said while looking around the room awkwardly.

Lillian looked at her best friends expression on his face and started to get worried.

"What, you'll ask for help from the Serpents when you need it but you won't hang with us?" Sweet Pea scoffed. "Don't come crawling to us hat in hand when some Ghoulie decides to earn his stripes by taking out FP Jones' kid."

Jughead sighed, "Duly noted, Thank you, Sweet Pea." He then walked closer, Lilly started to feel the tension and she didn't like it.

"I appreciate what you and the Serpents have done for me and my dad. I do." The teenaged boy with the Bennie said. "But I'm done, okay? No more favors comin' your way."

Sweet Pea took a couple steps forward before Lilly stepped in front of him, "move, Lillian," The brunette girl raised her eyebrows as he used her real name.

"No, the kids made up his mind, leave him be, it's beyond you're control of his life." Lilly snapped at Sweet Pea, "he's just not that into you."

Sweet Pea's dark eyes went from Lilly's to Jughead, "let's motor!" Toni said as they all went towards the door leaving the other teen boy in the room alone.
