*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Grunting loudly, I turn to my bedside table to see the my alarm clock reads 6 am on the dot. I've never understood why they make school begin so early in the morning. Now, don't get me wrong, I love school and everything to do with it, but god bless, I am not a morning person. I reach over and turn the alarm off because the sound irritates my entire soul. I start thinking over the pros and cons of getting out of bed on time when I finally come to the conclusion that I really should shower for the first day of senior year.
Rolling out of bed, I carefully step out of the blankets and put them neatly back on the way I fix it every morning. As I'm walking towards my ensuite bathroom, I flip on my OLIVIA wall light and glance towards my closet to think about what to wear. I quickly walk to the shower and get the water warm while I apply my face cleanser. When i'm finished, I hop into the shower, clean everything and hop out feeling refreshed. I walk over to the sink and brush my teeth and rewash my face with a steaming hot towel.
Sighing I open the bathroom door and slump over to my closet. I decide to wear my black leggings, a white short with a front cross design, a camo jacket, and my little heeled tan boots. I go over to my mirror and take one glance at the wet, brunette mess i have going on and decide to straighten it. I glance over to the clock and see that the time is now 7 and I need to be leaving the house in the next 3o minutes. I quickly plug in my straightner and yank the brush through my tangled hair. My hair is ridiculously thick and long, and takes about 20 minutes to straighten. I turn off my light and walk out into my empty front room. Living alone can be depressing but I shrug it off, grab a granola bar, a water bottle from the fridge and walk out the door. I turn around and lock it up before I turn around towards the driveway and glance at baby in all its glory. I walk over to my night blue Nissan Rogue, and hop in with a small smile on my face. I worked so hard for this car and have never been more proud of what I've accomplished in my short 18 years.
I realize that I'm daydreaming, and take a deep breath before starting the 10 minute drive to school. When I finally pull into the student parking lot, I finish of my granola bar, grab my water and head towards the entrance.
"OLIVIAAAAA", I turn around and get a face full of blonde hair from being attacked. I slightly push the person off to see that it is my best friend Emily Montgomery. We have been best friends since kindergarten and she has helped me breathe and get through so much. I have no idea what I would do without her. Luckily with us both being 5 foot 2, she didn't knock me completely over. I glance around to see people giving us weird glances but I roll my eyes and turn towards Emily.
"Hey Em, I missed you", I say with a big smile on my face. "These last 2 weeks tremendously sucked without you. All I did was work the entire time. I even started taking other associates shifts to keep myself busy." Emily always goes on a Vacation with her family the last 2 weeks before school starts. They offered for me to go like they do every year and I once again declined. I don't want to be a burden to anyone or have anyone think that i'm some kind of freeloader. I will work to take myself on a vacation if I really desire to go.
"Liv, I told you to stop doing that to yourself. You know you don't have to do that anymore. You got away, you made it out", I see her green eyes look over to me with a sad smile on her face and I sigh and turn away to start heading into the building. "Em, we talked about this, leave it alone." I can hear her angry tromping up the stairs and know that she's mad about me nudging the topic away. I let out a little giggle. "Em, you sound like an angry oompa loompa." I hear her gasp and I start laughing even harder. "Yeah, whatever, at least I don't .... I don't...... you know what, I hate you." I look over at her and see that she's trying not to laugh at her lack of a comeback. "Yeah, okay." I stop when I reach my locker and scan over the combination before putting it in. Emily leans back on the locker next to mine and starts humming a tune.
After a couple seconds I hear her abruptly stop and take a quick breath. "Em, you okay?" I don't hear her answer and stop putting items into my locker and turn towards her. I see her looking towards something and advert my attention that way. I feel my entire body go weak, I feel myself getting lightheaded. I turn my attention towards other people in the hall and see that other girls are looking the exact same way. I huff my breath and turn back to what I was doing as I'm hyper aware at his shoes slight thumping as he walks through the hallway. They abruptly stop right behind me and I take a breath and quickly glance at Emily. She's looking at me with wide eyes and I roll mine at her.
"Umm, excuse me, your in my way." I grunt and turn around towards the voice and I am not disappointed with what I am greeted with. Standing there is none other than Grayson Richards himself. I slowly look him up and down, mentally taking note of his styled up dark hair, his slight freckles on each cheek, the way he matched a blue cut up shirt with black biker jeans and his fresh all black and blue Jordan's. I drag my eyes up to his face and look into his brown eyes before I realize he has a giant smirk on his face. I scoff and turn back around without saying a word.
I see Emily from my peripheral vision sending me full on, if looks could kill, death glares. Before I can say anything I hear him start to clear his throat. I spin around so fast that I lose my balance and trip into him. He catches me by the elbow and I quickly jerk away from being touched. He gives a slightly weird look and this entire encounter is slightly starting to piss me off. "What?" I tuck my hair behind one of my ears and look up at him. He slightly looks dazed and clears his throat. "Your in my way" he says getting irritated. "How the fuck am I in your way when i'm standing at my locker?" He tilts his head in surprise. "I actually wasn't talking to you honey, I was talking to your friend. She's standing in front of my locker and I need to get in it." "Em, would you please move so asshole over here can get into his locker?"
The entire time this is going on, our eyes haven't moved from each other. I glance sideways towards Emily when I hear her move to the other side of me. I turn around, grab what I need for my 1st class and get out of there. I speed walk to Emily's locker and wait for her to catch up. "What the hell was that Liv?" I sneak a look over to her and shrug my shoulders. "Can we just go? I really don't feel like talking about it." She sighs, grabs her things, and we head to class together in silence.
