Chapter 3: What A Dream

**Peridot's POV**

-Peridot's dream-

I was in the middle of blackness. Darkness. Nothing. I was walking on something... It felt like grass.

I could hear my name being called. It sounded like Lapis..

I walked a little faster, searching and following Lapis's voice.

"Lapis?!" I called out.

I then saw her walk towards me, out from the darkness. She smiled.

I smiled back and started walking in her direction, but there was a hint of bad in the air. I heard footsteps behind me, but I ignored it.

I was stopped by hands grabbing me, pulling me back. I looked back and saw it was the men in black who were grabbing me.

I looked at Lapis and she got had syringe in her neck, whilst another two men were holding her.

"Not this again..."

I knew exactly what this was. A flashback to that day. I wasn't gonna let my dreams decide what I was gonna do, and I broke free from their hold and ran towards Lapis.

They had already shot the unknown substance into her system, and she fell to the ground. I looked at her lifeless body. She was dead. Gone. She was gone forever.. I couldn't do anything about it.

I held her close, crying. The men surrounded us, and were laughing.

I awoke and tears were streaming down my face. I looked over and saw Lapis sleeping soundly next to me.

I sighed in relief. I hugged her, and pulled her up against me. She nuzzled into my chest.

I sighed again, and tried thinking about what else happened on that day. I tried to remember what I was doing before that.

I was interrupted by Lapis stirring. I pretended to sleep, and I felt Lapis's gaze on me.

She poked my face a few times before I gave up and looked at her.

"You woke up.. Did you have a bad dream or something?.."

I nodded in defeat, and she hugged me. I smiled, and instantly felt relief.

I looked out a window across the room from us, and stared outside, taking in every detail of the trees, grass, sky, and even the dirt.

I wish I could walk freely outside without having my head low all the time.. I wish I could just have a normal life again..

I looked down at Lapis. She had already fallen asleep again. I kept her in my hold and closed my eyes. It didn't take long before I fell into a dreamless sleep.

The next morning

"Wake up, Peri." Lapis cooed, lightly shaking me.
"Urgghhhh... Five more minutes...." I whined tiredly.
