Sadly, Len seemed like he was going to last a while, so Barry would have to be a babysitter. Great.
The only thing that was actually going well was Mick was gone. Barry didn't exactly understand why, but he was still thankful.
He was not looking forward to Lisa's visit, though. If Len scared him, Lisa was in his nightmares.
"You're funny," Len giggled. Barry covered his mouth. Had he said that out loud?
"Yep," Len confirmed. Barry sighed. This was not going well.
"Whatcha wanna do?" Barry asked. "Watch a movie," Len said. "Preferably a horror comedy."
Barry stared at him. "Are you for real?" he asked suspiciously. "Is that an actual thing?"
Len's nod confirmed it. "Check Netflix."
When Barry turned the TV to Netflix's search bar Len was proven right. One of the first options was a movie called Little Evil. Barry shrugged and clicked on it. Len cheered drunkenly, and Barry was just thankful his drunken hobby wasn't killing innocents.
"Is that really what you think?" Len asked, completely shocked. He seemed completely sober.
"Uh... Is there something else I'm supposed to?" Barry responded. Len paused the movie. "You really think I, what? Murder people for fun?"
Barry shrugged and looked down at his lap. "I mean, I don't know. Why do you kill others? Others who have a life to live, a chance to explore? They could make this works a better place, you know."
Len scowled. "Really? Who have I killed that wouldn't have just rotted away in prison for the rest of their lives?"
Barry thought about it for a minute. He realized Len was right. The only people besides that security guard that he had murdered were criminals who had killed people themselves. Or, at least, the people that had been on his record.
"You killed that security guard," Barry pointed out. "I needed to test how fast you were," Len deadpanned in reply.
Barry looked up at him. "Why?" he whispered. "Why did you do this? Why did you have to make my life so goddamn complicated?"
Len looked at him sadly. "Because I think I love you," he whispered. Barry started at him. Screw babysitting, he was done with this shit. He jumped up from the couch and headed to the door. He opened it, annoyed by unsurprised to see Lisa in the doorway, hand in the air to knock.
"Outta my way," Barry growled as he shoved past her. Lisa stared at him in surprise as he dashed away. Literally. He used his super speed.
"How the hell did you mess that up?" Lisa demanded as she walked into the room. "We had everything planned out, remember?"
Len looked down. "Guess I was too honest," he said quietly.
Lisa sighed. She was reminded of those times as a little sister that she had comforted her older when he was rejected. It had happened too many times.
"I know I shouldn't have, alright? I don't need a lecture," Len muttered. Lisa couldn't blame him, but she was still a little hurt that his first thought was she would lecture him.
He was still sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. She walked over to him, a sigh releasing itself. They didn't do physical contact, never had, which was what stopped her first instinct to lay a hand on his back. Instead, she just sat at the other end, waiting for him to break the silence.
He didn't. After a while, Lisa worried he was asleep. That's when he looked at her, his eyes desperate. "I know it been a while, but can I go to your house? I can't see him tonight."
