-Jerome's POV-

"You have no idea..." I muttered.

"Well tell me! Please!" She begged.

"Sierra its family stuff..." I sighed.

"Alright. That's okay," she responded, sorrow in her eyes.

"Are you okay?" I questioned.

"Im fine it's just... I kind of miss my family, you know?" She answered.

"Ah, I see. Well why didn't you go back down and get them?" I questioned.

"Because if I told them a human wants to save me, she tie me up and throw me in a asylum. She can't know I'm with a human," she answered.

"I get it. My dad would do the same," I replied.

"What about your mom?" She questioned.

"She's with my brother and sister back home. My parents are divorced," I explained.

"Bree and Scott? You told me about them," she smiled.

"Well... I HAD another sister," I said.

"Had? What happened to her?" She asked.

"Well, her name was Lily, and one day she kinda... Disappeared. And the rest is history," I said.

"So, it's like me, how I just disappeared from my family," she sighed.

"Yeah, kind of," I agreed.

"Well anyway, what are we going to do about everyone hunting us down?" She asked.

"Lay low until my idiotic dad calls them off," I answered.

"Well... Jerome, I was actually going to say... Maybe I should go back to living with my own family, you know? Jerome, I really like you, but I'm going to die," she said, I starred at her.

"Sierra, you'll never be trusted with freedom again. If you stay with me, then we'll get through this together and truly have a happily ever after," I said.

"We wont HAVE one if one of us is dead," she muttered.

"Your not going to die Sierra, please know that. I'll protect you," I promised.

"I'm trusting you Jerome," she giggled.

"Smart choice," I said. We sat there for a bit before my phone went off. It was Adam.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Jerome can you please explain why the fuck cops are searching our house and questioning everyone?" He asked.

"Adam! We told you to leave the fucking house!" I yelled.

"Sorry! But they're wondering where you are, should I tell them?" he asked.

"No! Tell us we went West," I said, even though we went North.

"Alright, I'll call you if there are any more problems," he said. Then, I hung up the phone.

"We've got a problem," I said.

"So I heard. Let's start driving before they catch up with us," Sierra agreed. We stood up and headed to the car, then took off driving.

"If you keep going East, then take route 1-10, that should lead us to the highway. Keep taking that route, and in to hours we should be safe there," Sierra said, pointing out where to go.

"Alright," I agreed. I continued to drive, but about ten minutes later, I stopped. Sierra and I starred at the window.

"What...?" She whispered. There were cop cars blocking off the border to the next city in California, everyone knew now.

There was no way of leaving this city.

In other words,

We'll never be safe.
