The question I was presented with was "Should people have exotic animals for pets?" and I say yes, we should have exotic pets. I think that if you are responsible and have no criminal record (other than a small speeding ticket) you should be permitted to own an exotic animal. Most of the animals you see here today are born in captivity and not stolen from their families in the wild.

Captive breeding eliminates the pressure on wild populations. Like I said before, most animals you see were born in captivity but at one point one animal was taken from the wild but what if their friends and families were killed by poachers. These animals also serve as a backup incase that animal (say a cheetah) goes extinct. Think, if we didn't have any cheetahs in zoos or something else and they went extinct we would have no more cheetahs left in the world.

Think about it this way, If you saw an injured baby animal in the wild or a baby animal with its dead parents, would you save it? What if you were in the animals shoes, would you want to be saved? Would you want to have a loving new home where you didn't have to worry about hunting for food or trying to find shelter in the pouring rain? I think we should have exotic animals as pets.

As you are finishing this, think about everything I said and this. On average in the United States, only 3.25 people per year are killed by captive exotic animals meanwhile, traffic accidents kill about 125 people per day. All these reasons are why I think that we should have exotic animals as pets.
