"There is no way I'm sleeping on the couch again! Didn't we talk about the alternation?"
"How can you be so inconsiderate? I'm the lady here you know? Besides, it's summer and I move a lot during bedtime so there's no way I'd sleep in the couch!"
It's past 10 pm yet the yell inside their house woke up the silent and sleeping neighborhood and blew the crickets and crows away.
"Well, it's not my business anymore! What we said in our agreement is what's gonna be followed!"
"No! I first came here and there's no way you can—"
They all paused when they heard the doorbell ring. They looked at each other, both looking annoyed before walking out of the room to see who it could be this time.
Yup, they often hear that doorbell ring almost every night. And there could only be two possible persons behind; 1) An angry neighbor. 2) A cop because of the complaint of an angry neighbor.
"See, because of your stubbornness, we're getting complaints again! It's your fault!" Sean whisper-shouted at her.
"Well, if you just let me take the bed instead, then there's not gonna be any problem! I swear, if that's a cop, I'd let them take you!" Kaycee whisper-yelled back at him and he just rolled his eyes on her.
Sean peeped on the tiny hole, but who he saw was not who they both expected to be.
"It's Dad!" He whispered at her and they both panicked. "Fix yourself!" He said before putting his arm around her shoulder and twisting the doorknob. The door revealed a man in a formal suit and very serious expression.
"Dad! It's past 10pm. What brings you here?" Sean asked smiling.
"Good evening, Mr. Le—Dad. Please come in." Kaycee said, a forced smile pasted on her face too.
They both moved aside as they let the old man enter their abode, with his expression that didn't change.
If there's a person Sean should be scared of, that's his Dad. Cheuk is a very serious person, especially when it comes to family and business. The two could show their annoyance at each other in front of his Mom, or Kaycee's mom or even Brad, (Kaycee's Dad) who's a cool person, but not when they're in front of his Dad. If Cheuk finds out that they both really hate each other, he'd surely be dead.
They were both nudging each other with their elbows, silently arguing with their eyes while following Mr. Lew on his way to their living room.
As they sat down, Kaycee stood up and went to the kitchen to prepare some tea. Looks like the father and son are having a serious conversation. She then came back with two cups of teas on a tray in her hands.
"The flight will be at 5am." Cheuk said.
"You're leaving?" Kaycee asked in a worried tone but in the inside... 'Should I throw a party celebration?'
"I will, honey. Mr. Harrison finally set a schedule for the meeting in New York. But don't worry, I'll be back soon." Sean wrapped an arm around her waist, but his eyes are yelling; 'Don't do anything stupid.'
"Aww, have a safe trip, honey. Please be back sooner." She wrapped her arms around him. 'Oh, you can stay there for good.'
After the conversation, his Dad left and she just let him take the bed. 'Well, I'll be owning that huge bed for for three days anyways! Wahahaha' she lets a victory— more like an evil laugh inside her head.
