Life is a funny thing. Most people say it has ups and downs but in the end it's all worth it but for Melony life has become one disappointment after another. Melony had cancer. Diagnosed when she was just 9 she had watched her life fading away for the past 7 and a half years.

Each day was the same she'd wake up look in the mirror and examine her bald head trying to see if any hair and started to grow (it never did) but Melony was stunningly gorgeous non the less. Then she'd stumble out of bed and go to the common room to see what the other cancer patients her age were doing and she'd try to make some friends. To no avail no one there was ever really looking for friends because you either had them or you didn't. You see when you have cancer it's practically a given that your going to die eventually, and so is everyone around you. No one really wants to make friends for the fear of losing them. So after Melony goes looking for some friends...and fails she goes back to her room and reads or goes on tumblr, eats, watches Netflix, eats, maybe plays some guitar and does anything else a sixteen year old might do. The only difference is she'll occasionally see a nurse or doctor and almost everything she does eat doesn't stay down for to long. then she'll go to bed and start all over again the next morning. and every once and awhile she'll hear news about her cancer... sometimes good but most of the time bad. Her cancer had slowly but surely been getting worse and worse since the time she was diagnosed.

when she was first diagnosed her parents were always around making sure they knew what was going on with her every second of everyday. and they knew EVERYTHING. but as she got older and they became more aware of the fact that Melony probably would not get better and they're was nothing they could do about it they started going on with they're own life's again. and they'd visit Melony every once in awhile but they were both very busy working so they could pay for Melony's treatment and Melony understood that so she didn't complain.

Melony's parents happened to be visiting today. Melony wanted to look presentable to her parents so instead of wearing her usual pajamas she threw on some ripped skinny jeans and a 5 seconds of summer shirt (they were one of her favorite bands) along with the beanie she always wore. her parents arrived as she was eating breakfast. "hey sparky whatcha eating" was the first thing her dad said to her. He always seemed to call her something different and the names all seemed to be something you would name your dog.

"lunky cherms" was Melonys response as she had milk dripping from her bottom lip. Lucky Charms had been Melonys favorite cereal ever since she found out it doesn't taste that bad when she throws it up even though that kind of gross to think about.

"please do not talk with your mouth full you could choke and die."said her mom. "oh please mom, I'm dying anyways and you know it." Melony's response shocked her mother. "don't have such a negative outlook on life Melony. just cause you have cancer doesn't mean your going to die." but Melony was about 82.7% sure she was going to. All the treatments and all the CAT scans and all this time in a hospital an the only thing Melony ha to show for it was a bald head and a couple scars.

when Melony was done with her breakfast her parents started to talk to her normally they brought up topics like have you made any new friends, and did you learn any new songs on your guitar. they usually wouldn't bring up anything that had to do with the cancer or the treatments so naturally when Melonys parents brought it up she was interested in what they had to say. "Melony, bud you've had cancer for awhile and your mother and I are getting worried that it's making you depressed and that your just wasting your life away. We want you to be as happy as possible just in case...well you know. so we went ahead and submitted you for a shooting star wish." for those of you unfamiliar with a shooting star wish it's basically this thing they do for all the kids who have some sort of fatal disease so that the can have one last great day before they go to sleep and never wake up. Melony had considered getting a wish when she was younger but she didn't see a point. but now that her parents have done it for her she just thought why not. sarcastically Melony responded with:

"what am I supposed to wish for I have everything I'll ever need right here in this hospital room."

"ha ha very funny Melony. why don't you wish to meet that band you love some much. What's it called 4... 4 days of summer or something."

"mom they're called 5 seconds of summer it says it right on my shirt."

"So it does. so why don't you do that Melony. wish to meet them it'll be cool."
