Chapter 3 "The maze"

"Everyone gather around"!

Angel walked over to her coach, Alvin, as she breathed heavily from there gym "warm up" outside.

"Today we are going to be playing a fun little game called tag. 

The student around him groaned.

And that's where you all are wrong."

Suddenly the floor beneath them shook and the flat field they were standing on started to slowly lift up beside them. A bright green maze wall formed many feet above their heads. Vines crawled around the structure making it look ancient."This maze will test your agility and skills without your powers. The kids around Angel gasped. And don't even try to use your powers in the maze the manta levels are so low in there you won't be able to make a spark. The students once again gasped in shock. Oh don't be so extra! Any questions before we begin? Everyone looked around until a hand was raised.

"Yes, Mr. Conlan?

Why can't we use our powers isn't that the whole point of this school? The boy replied some of his friends nodding in agreement. Well you see, one day there may be a time where you can't use your powers so this training maze will sharpen your athletic and mental skills and train you for any surprise future events. Any more questions? Alright then let's begin. All twenty of you will enter the maze on my count trying to get to the end first. The winner gets a prize". The students all stood shoulder to shoulder waiting for his signal.

This all seems to easy. 

"On your marks. Get set, Go"! And suddenly their coach disappeared into a thick smoke making the students cough. Most students bolted inside while Angel took a moment to think.

"This seems all too easy for a simple maze. A girl said behind her studying the maze.

I am glad someone else has seen that too. Angel replied back. Am Rainy the rain welder at your service. After pretending to bow she stood back up. And you"?

Angel froze for a moment.

The girl clearly didn't know she was a cripple a powerless person. Most introductions started off like this, and once they asked her about her power she would always reply. I don't know mine yet. First came the shocked look in their eyes, then disgust and then the rumours circulated about her came back up again to warn others.

She could lie again.

No!

She strongly thought. She couldn't risk bringing back old memories and losing more than she already did.

"Am Angel and am powerless.
Rainy looked at her for a moment. You can't say that! Everyone has powers, maybe yours haven't been activated yet? No. Angel said convinced. Well I believe you do have powers. Now let's stop worrying and start working".

Angel sighed. She was right they couldn't just stand there all day. "I say we should just walk in and see what happens". Alright then let's do this"!

As they slowly made there way inside the maze it was like entering a completely different world. The walls were more wider than on the outside and the air was misty hot. Yet it felt eerily silent.

"WATCH OUT"!

Suddenly Angel felt a huge impact making her stagger sideways bumping into Rainy. Pain shot through her, and a sudden wave of anger rushed through her. Bolting up she glared at the boy who bumped into them. it was the same guy who asked Mr. Alvin the question.

"What was that for"! 

It was as if she were to burst again, she slightly calmed down. The boy however was confused lying against the wall touching his head. He looked up at her.

"Chill, i just saved both of you guys from being eaten by a huge monster.

Wait, what? both girls said in unison.

Ya, a big black ball that can shapeshift. That's the thing i saved you from.  I think it has lost my trail already seeing that we haven't been eaten already. I knew this maze was to good to be true!  Rainy replied looking at both of them. And what did you mean by "eaten"? Wasn't it obvious? The weird monster thingy ate a bunch of my friends as we were making our way through the maze . 

If that thing is out there we better start moving so it doesn't find us. Rainy and Conlan both nodded in reply. 

Wait, hold up how do i know if this- 

And suddenly a horrifying screech filled the air. 

It was coming.
