Chapter 4 " Shadows"

The black figure rose over them like night. Not wanting to be eaten Angel shouted. "We have to go now"! She bolted away from it just in time looking back to making sure Rainy and Conlan were behind her. Suddenly Angel stopped. A wall laid ahead of them and the only directions were right and left. She thought for a moment looking back again as Conlan and Rainy stopped behind her.

"What's the matter? Conlan shouted

Any suggestions? replied Angel 

ALWAYS RIGHT, NOW GO"! Screamed Rainy.

Quickly moving to the right she was overtaken by Rainy who left her to run beside Conlan. Turning back again to check if it was still chasing them she began to grow tired. When suddenly the black ball shape shifted into a  big wolf beast. Having the strength to run again they turned a corner to be faced with a flaming lava parkour pit. 

"WATCH OUT"!

As if everything turned slow motion the warning was to late.  Rainy was falling down into the pit of lava. Angel had a sudden burst of speed to help her but Conlan was faster. Gazing over the edge they saw her hanging onto dear life. Then they heard the eerie noise of a howl right behind them. Turning slowly they saw the shape of the pitch black wolf that was chasing them.

Oh great just what we need.

"I'll fend off the monster while you get Rainy backup. Angel said standing up. How Are you supposed to do that? I dunno but i got an idea. Hey you weird black magic thingy i bet you can't touch this"! And just like that the beast snapped charging towards her with its fangs drawn into a snarl, she ran towards the side avoiding Conlan and stood still. Encouraging the beast it charged forward attempting to headbutt her into the pit but Angel was smarter. Last second she had she stepped quickly to the right. The magic beast quickly realised what was happening and tried to stop. Its claws dug the earth beneath it but its efforts were vain while it was plunged down into the pit. 

"THAT WAS AWESOME"! 

Wondering who it was Angel turned towards the sound. It was Rainy sitting with Conlan looking like they just watched a action packed movie. 

"You guys were sitting there the whole time and didn't even bothered to help me?  

I mean we kinda just got here but we think you got it under control". Called Conlan.

All of a sudden the walls of the maze disappeared leaving them in the middle of the field along with other confused students. 

"Chop chop we haven't got all day"! Shouted coach Alvin.

Walking over to Rainy and Conlan she helped them both up.

"Are you guys okay?

Ya, were fine. Rainy replied cleaning the dirt off her.  

Hey! You three in the field if you don't come here right now i'll make you guys do fifty laps each.

Sorry Sir"! Conlan called back.

After everyone watched them run back coach Alvin started to speak. "Well, by the looks on your face you seemed to all need a reasonable explanation on what just happened to some of your friends if it did happen to you, just so you know there not dead or hurt it was just an illusion to see how you all would have reacted when facing challenges without your powers. They are safe inside the gym watching the rest of you scramble around like lab rats in the maze. I am disappointed in most of you who rushed into the maze and and didn't stop to think while the beasts almost "devoured" you one by one."

*Ring*

Well, that is the bell. Class dismissed.
