As a child I was told being scared of the dark was for little kids. To grow up and get over myself. That I was being a drama queen.. And they closed the door behind them.
I hid under my covers, shaking and crying quietly. The monster was going to eat me. Hurt me. Tell me things I wish to no hear. I was utterly Terrified of the unknown.
I don't think I ever 'got over it' I can't handle doors being closed, I lock every door in the house, there is always some light on, or a few, I can't stand in the dark without shaking, I have nightmares. But they still think I got over my fear of the dark..
