Your POV
You push open the door, taking off
Your shoe, cursing as it took you time longer than usual when you're in a hurry now. You run inside to your dad's office, panting. He had called you to come quickly as he's in a 'dilemma' , and a huge problem has arisen. You've never forgiven him for his wrongdoings but considering the fact that he has raised you up until now, You'd be more than glad to help out.
He sat on his chair, drinking his tea, not a sign of worry or anything written on his face.
You walk over in a slow pace, and sat down across him, trying to steady yourself. Sweat trickled down your forehead and you wipe it off using the end of your sleeve. Just then, your mum came in with a glass of lemonade and placed it in front of you. She gave you a smile and sat down. I wish I could take away your pain.
"What about you? " You asked and pushed the glass on her direction and she gave a smile in return.
" I've had it. " she said and You could tell that she was lying.
" mum, you know you can't lie to me. Drink it. " you say and pushed it to her side again
Then you turn to your dad and saw that he was in his own world.
"You have to do me a big favour. The last I'll ask" he murmured, a hint of fear tainted on his tone. Talking to your dad was one of your least favourite.
He's short tempered and as much as you hate it, You take after him. Your brother had gone off on his own, leaving you behind when he got in a fight with your dad. 'I'll be back for you' he told you and never came back. That was 17 years ago. Was he alive or not, nobody knew.
"I'm listening. " You say and he flinched.
Your dad can be fun but once he snaps he becomes someone else. Bipolar. He is.
" You see. When our business started, the elders made a pact, to keep the business going on for ages." he said after a long pause. He scratched his head, pulling up his glasses.
"what does that have to do with this? " You ask as you took a sip of the lemonade that you shared with your mother.
He hissed and took a long sip of his lemongrass tea. He doesn't want to talk about it.
" So they promised that the grandson and granddaughter of the two families be married in order to keep it going for a long generation. " he said, while looking up at you, biting on the Apple.
That's when you realised what he wants.
An arranged marriage with someone I do not know of. The idea that I Despise the most. Not considering ones own consent and 'promising' to marry off two lives like they have control over it.
You stood up, about to run out of the place when he speak of a deal which you could never reject.
"I'll go search for your brother and bring him back home. I'll forgive him and ask for his forgiveness as well. If you do what I ask of, what your grandparents had wanted, I'll do it all. "
He doesn't feel it but he'll do it if I agree to that? Ridiculous. But that was all that I ever wanted.
" Fine. " You say, as you grab both your handbag and your mum's hand and step out of his office.
