yugyeom sits on the swing silently, his feet rocking him back and forth slowly. he sighed and watched as the little ants ran into each other and then walked away together.
yugyeom wished he was an ant, they can make friends whenever they want. unlike the twelve year old sitting on the only rusty swing in the small town namyangju, the two insects wandered away happily with yugyeom watching them. he smiled softly, looking up as he heard voices enter the park. his smile dropped, knowing this wasnt going to turn out good in any way possible. yugyeom scurried off the swing and fled to behind the big oak tree in the middle of the park, peeking from beside it to see who was walking through the park. his eyebrows frowned as he noticed one boy, from a distance he could only see a few of his features, but he knew who it was.
it was the thai exchange student, kunpimook bhuwakul. he arrived about two months ago and everyone loved him because he was a foreigner. although his korean was horrible, he was very known. the boy was petite in size, his fluffy black hair shiny and healthy.
yugyeom watched the group of six sceptically, trying to piece together the rest of the group, some of them looking much older then a few. they came closer and the small boys heart raced faster, hiding himself behind the tree and staying as quiet as possible. he heard someone yell something and soon it was silent, yugyeom thinking it was safe to come out. the boy stood up and stepped to his left, turning to face the footpath but he ended up bumping into someone and falling over, a small scream escaping his lips. he pouted and looked up, his eyes widened and he stood up at the speed of light, dusting his old blue jeans off. cowering down as he looked at caramel coloured boy in front of him, yugyeom didnt say anything.
"i could see you the whole time, you know?" was the first thing the boy said, his hands going to his hips sassily. he waited for yugyeom to look at him, rather then answer him. he wanted to see who this mysterious boy was hiding behind a massive tree. "so? you're not talking huh," he spoke again, flicking yugyeoms shoulder gently but the younger flinching in pain. he snapped his head up, his dark brown locks bouncing for the motion.
"ya! that hurt you know, ouch.." yugyeom pouted and rubbed his shoulder better. the boy in front of him just watched, smiling small. he reached forward and pinched a few strands of yugyeoms hair in between his fingers, pulling at them quickly. he giggled as yugyeom whined, finding it amusing that the small boy was so sensitive.
"im kunpimook, but you can call me mook" the boy said and bowed, as he was taught by his translator. "you are? can you hurry, my friends are waiting," shifting all of his weight onto one leg, kunpimook just stared at the silent boy in front of him. yugyeom gulped, not knowing wether to tell him or not. he glanced up but quickly adverted his eyes, kunpimooks stare intense.
"im yugyeom.. thats it really" he replied, his voice low and muffled. he was surprised that kunpimook could hear him, especially as he asked another question. "no nickname? your friends must be pretty lame if they haven't given you a nickname!" he giggled, eyes being pushed closed as his chubby cheeks squished them. yugyeom grunted, kicking his shoe into the dirt near a tree root, his chest hurting slightly.
"thats because i have no friends. no friends, no nickname," the monotone voice caught kunpimooks attention and he frown, his eyebrows doing the same. "how can you have no friends? it must be so boring having no one to play with!" the little thai boy exclaimed, his arms raising in exaggeratation.
yugyeom just looked at him once more before forcing a fake smile and walking away, his frown being plastered on after being out of kunpimooks sight. he started to walk home, letting the boys words ring in his head.
"yeah kunpimook, it is boring, very boring.."
