at the age of nineteen the 97' duo stood in front of the first ever club they were about to enter. kunpimook was estatic as ever while yugyeom was his normal nervous self. sure he was excited to drink alcohol with his best friend for the first time since they turned the legal age but in a club? with lots of sweaty people and loud music? his anxiety wasn't very sure of the events to occur during the night. the usual action of kunpimook locking their fingers (that made the slightly younger males heart race) brought yugyeom out of his trance as he got pulled towards the doors as the bouncer checked their ID's.
many people would probably call the korean male an old man if he said that the moment they entered the loud music gave him a massive headache, so he kept it to himself and followed kunpimook to the bar. staying silent as a mouse while the thai male ordered the first round of shots, yugyeom took around the spacious but full club and sighed. he wished he could have been slightly more excited then he was right now but his worrisome personality couldn't help but think of all the possibilities of something bad happening. like, if kunpimook got too drunk and he had to carry the slim male home, or if a girl tried to 'hit him up'. endless thoughts ran through his mind, some of them making him grimace or maybe that was the vodka that he forgot to chase with the lemon slice laying beside his empty glass.
kunpimook smiled his charming smile and wrapped his arm around yugyeom, pulling him close.
"how are you feeling bud?"
it was a simple question that sent many answers inside yugyeoms head wild, but knowing he shouldn't say any of them. instead he nodded his head slightly and smiled back. his answer was short and sweet but mostly a white lie, which he was used to telling his best friend. kunpimook was a carefree, happy-go-lucky guy that yugyeom was obviously envious of but he never acted on anything, for the happy guy was his best friend and secret lover.
no, they weren't together but yugyeom wished they were because each day that passes as they spend more time together, makes him go slightly insane because he knows that friends is all they'll ever be. especially considering kunpimook now has his own boyfriend by the name of mark. mark is a few years older then both of them but yugyeom can tell that kunpimook really likes him and he knows why. mark is good looking, friendly, loving and very empathetic towards both boys, (mainly his significant other, clearly).
as the night goes on yugyeom keeps his ground at the bar, sipping slowly on the sour alcohol he continues to be served without his concent but he doesnt mind. kunpimook ran off about an hour ago to 'let loose and dance' after many minutes of trying to persuade yugyeom to join him. yugyeom loves to dance but its more when he is on his own and can focus, not just bop up and down for multiple hours with other peoples sweaty bodies clinging to his. he was now only on his fifth beer when a tap on his shoulder struck him, making the poor boy jump.
he turned around to be faced with a young girl, his stomach automatically sinking. the worst erupted in his mind and his hands started to shake slightly, longing for kunpimooks slightly bigger hand to hold them. he put on a brave face though, smiling at the girl.
"h-hi, how can i help?"
he says, quietly but loud enough for her to hear over the loud obnoxious music. she smiles and rolls her eyes slightly, getting ready to speak when shouting and hollering sounded in the building. she laughed slightly and leaned closer to yugyeom.
"i think your friend is making a fool of himself, the tall skinny one with red hair?"
it was a short conversation after she led the slightly tipsy yugyeom to kunpimook, who was having a 'dance battle' with another very intoxicated man. people encircled the duo as they danced, yugyeoms face glowing a soft pink. of course kunpimook would go and do something like this yugyeom thought, stepping forward into the 'ring' to retreat his blindly drunk friend. pulling him rather roughly, yugyeom did anything but be kind as he practically dragged kunpimook out of the club after putting a few hundred dollars on the bar top for their (kunpimooks) drinks.
they stumbled outside into the warm night air, street lights glowing a orange tone through the streets and yugyeom sighed, getting kunpimook situated for their long and tiring walk home. yugyeom was annoyed that kunpimook got so drunk but he knew it was going to happen. the younger was also going to make sure he took care of him the next morning if any of the things he read about hang overs were true.
firstno matter how pissed yugyeom could get at kunpimook, nothing would ever make his feelings for his best friend change.
