Author's note: there will be a lot of flashbacks in this chapter if you don't want to read them just skip over the parts that say flash back.

Clarke was sitting at the table waiting for Finn to arrive. This had been their first real date that included going out to a fancy restaurant. Clarke stared down at her fingers picking at her finger nails. She had gotten their a bit early and that only made her feel more anxious. Little did she know a group of 6 kids were watching her from a diffrent table.
Bellamy, Murphy, Raven, Octavia, and Jasper and Monty who had decided to join last minute were playing close attention to Clarke. This was the most dressed up they've ever seen her taking into consideration she never really dresses up. She was wearing an off the shoulder, thigh-split, form-fitting dress with a loop waterfall braid Octavia made Lincoln-which is surprisingly good with hair- do.
Clarke was sitting there for a good 30 minutes before he came. "And they say girls take forever to get ready." Clarke said with a small giggle. The group was surprised, Clarke doesnt giggle she snorts. Finn let out a chuckle and sat down. "What are you wearing?" Finn asked now serious. "It's a dress Raven helped me pick out do you like it?" Clarke replied smiling brightly hoping she impressed him. "That dress would look better if you lost some weight like I told you to and your hair would look better on someone that looked less like I dont know you. Let's just hurry and order so that we can get out of here." Clarke looked down with glassy eyes, Finn has done this before but never in public. "Please don't speak to me like that I don't appreciate it. Octavia and Raven spent a lot of time looking for this dress and I think Lincoln did a great job with my hair." She replied holding back the tears, not willing to take his crap in public and him disrespecting her friends like that. "Talking about Lincoln I don't want you hanging out with him, Jasper, Monty, Murphy and especially Bellamy." She just nodded her head not wanting to get into an argument with him. He made her pass him her phone and he made her leave the groupchat.
He ended up ordering for the both of them a sirloin steak for him and a garden salad for her because she was "gaining a bit of a belly". Bellamy and the gang sat in bewilderment at the scene playing out in front of them. They couldn't believe the Clarke Griffin was taking this abuse. The same Clarke Griffin that got suspended from school for a week for standing up to bully.

Clarke's mom arrived at school that day because she got a phone call from school saying her daughter got suspended. She asked the principal what happened and he simply replied with "She was talking about something she shouldn't even know about and it's wrong for her to know it. You and your husband should be ashamed of yourselves for teaching your daughter such things." He never said what she was talking about.
When Abby dropped Clarke off at home she asked her what happened and Clarke confidantly replied "My new friend Octavia was being bullied so I stood up in front of the school and said something. I cant remember what but you and daddy would've been proud." And skipped her way down the driveway into the house.
Instead of going back to work like Abby had originally planned she went back up to the school and asked a teacher what Clarke said and she replied back with "This is what my Daddy told me. If you look at it properly hangman teaches you that if you say something wrong you could end someone's life. If you say the wrong letters in hangman the man is hung which means game over. That's the same thing in real life."

Jasper is sitting at his desk when all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he knows that when the boys find out he'll never hear the end of it.
When the girls find out they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives. Jasper believes his heart is going to stop; he's never been very religious but right then and there he starts praying. "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat." He looks up from his prayer and sees the teacher coming towards him with a look in his eyes saying he's been discovered.
As the teacher is walking towards him , a classmate named Clarke is carrying a goldfish bowl filled to the brim with water. Clarke trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably spills the water on Jasper's lap.
Jasper pretends to be upset, but all the while is very relieved. Now all of a sudden instead of being the object of ridicule he's the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him into the boy's locker room and let's him change into his gym shorts while he hangs up the soaking pants. But as life would have it, the object of ridicule would have to be passed down to someone else--Clarke. She tries to help but they all tell her to get out. "You've done enough, you klutz!"
Finally, at the end of the day, as they were waiting for the bus, Jasper walks over to Clarke and whispers, "You did that on purpose didn't you?" Clarke whispers back, "I wet my pants once too." And at that they got on the bus and sat next to each other they've been close ever since.

Jaha, Wells, Clarke's mother, and Clarke's father, as well as Clarke were having a picnic at the beach. After the picnic the kids were allowed to go play while the adults talked about business. Wells stood up and ran to get in the water while Clarke walked to the shoreline. Jaha noticed Clarke hurriedly picking up and gently throwing things into the ocean. Approaching Clarke he asked. "What are you doing?"
Clarke replied, "Throwing starfish back into the ocean.The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I dont throw them back in, they'll die." The man gently chuckled to himself and said, "Don't you realise there are miles and miles of starfish? You cant make any diffrence!" To somebody else this may seem harsh but Jaha likes to say things how it is, and Clarke knew that. After listening politely, Clarke bent down, picked up another starfish, and through it into the surf. Then, smiling to the man she said, "It made a diffrence to that one."

The group sat their staring while their costumes were getting itchy. They wanted to take them off but they couldn't risk getting caught. "Mm, this salad is pretty good." Clarke lied, she hated healthy food but she'd take it for him because she believed she loved him. Although she was only half way through her meal Finn had finished his steak, stood up, and said it was time to go.
