Chapter 2: Getting used to it
~~~
The nindroid's questions has been answered an hour ago. When him, Ultra Violet and the rest of the SOG guards got back from the bar. That was an hour ago and the snowflakes continued raining hard onto their frozen noses. From what Mr. E heard, snow wasn't a very good phenomenon to be mixed with his wires and bolts. He never understood the reason to that but just the way that Ultra Violet raised her volume to when he would ask such questions: "Move along scumbag. Snow has no importance to us." She would usually act all mysterious and violet when he asked an irrelevant question. The only time where she genuinely smiles is when one of their plans to retrieve the Oni masks works. She would chime for hours and boast to others, especially to Killow, about the fact that she was alongside the quiet one the whole time when the plans were made.It was currently still night. Mr. E watched the stars as he refused to sleep. He still wondered why he participated at this plan? He wanted to fight for good and what's right. Except, did stealing the Oni masks really feel like he was on the right side? It was stealing after all and that raised red flags for the Ninjago police forces. He sighed as he glanced at his clock. It read 11:40. 20 till Midnight.
Maybe he should get some rest. After all, he had a job to do here. He couldn't stay restless forever. As he grabbed his red blankets to cover his metallic chest, he heard the slightest creak by the corner of his face. As he turned his frontage to face the source of the noise, a bright light struck him. His red eyes flared up in surprise and he turned away almost immediately. The figure by the door shut the door quickly and had a small frown by their face. "Oh crap, I'm sorry! Damn I'm so insensitive." He gave a light hiss in discomfort as they heard their voice. Mr. E recognized the speaker and turned back to face them when the door was closed. That light couldn't get in his eyes anymore. He really thought that the red visor over his eyes would protect him, clearly he was mistaken."Ultra Violet." He said simply, seeming like he has nothing else to say to her. Ultra Violet sat down by the edge of the bed and gave an apologetic expression. The nindroid understood it all too well. "Ultra Violet." He called again. This time, his calls weren't ignored.
"Yeah?" The slightest voice responded to him belonging to the purple coded general. It wasn't defensive nor aggressive like he imagined. It was quite calm and peaceful to the least. It shocked him and he wished Ultra Violet could stay like that forever. "Is this plan a good idea? Are we really good guys?" He asked calmly in response. Rewarding her with as much polite and peacefulness in his response just like how she responded him back. The question surprised the general massively. That reminded her of a past memory."Apologies Quiet one. But may I ask. Is this really for the greater good? " in the past, she asked. Her boss stopped typing on the computer and took a sip out of her glass of water. She cracked her knuckles and faced Ultra Violet with a cold expression. "I thought you had faith in me Violet! Can't you see? How much of an utopia this world will become with Garmadon by our side? We could be noticed! Finally after all these years of hiding in the shadows. Are you questioning my plans-" she was cut off by the black haired ponytail girl shaking her head out of fear. "No ma'm-" She replied shortly before the quiet one talked again. "Are you doubting your silent boss?!" Her tone raised. Ultra Violet shut her eyes and exhaled violently. "No ma'm!" She cried, making sure the quiet one heard her perfectly well. "Good. Now never ask such petty questions next time. Got it?" That was the last time she ever heard from her boss that day. That was the last time she'd ever ask such questions.
Now, that the question was brought forward to her. She gave a perplexed look as she tried to find a reasonable response. She didn't want to disappoint the rookie too. How to answer this? "Listen...I don't know. I really don't know. I'm not the best person to ask E. really. " she answered back, her eyes snapping when she realizes Mr. E out of bed and making his way to the door. He placed his red glove on the doorknob and opened the wooden door. Due to the momentum and rust on that door, that same creak was produced again. "If you can't answer me, I'll need to ask the quiet one myself." He said, determined. Her black pupils dilated. "Mr E! Wait! No..that's not the best idea." She stopped him, pleading to Garmadon she would convince him. She didn't want to see him yelled at by the quiet one. She somewhat cared about that empty robot. With no purpose either to serve the gang. The truth hurts doesn't it? She realized that clearly. Mr. E stopped at his tracks and sat back down on the bed. "Why? You actually do know the answer to my question? " a smile lit on his covered visage. She smiled as well. Feeling heart pound as a response came clear in her mind.
"Not exactly. But all I know is that when Garmadon is freed. Our gang and this city will be freed from dictature and fake heroes. Those pesky ninja always telling us to do things that causes the opposite effect. They aren't no heroes." She lifted her fist up in triumph. Her saddened look turned to one of a determined general very quickly. New perseverance sparked up in Mr. E's system. He gave a joyful look at her and grabbed the covers to wrap himself back in them. "You know, that was a very cliché response." He responded with a giggle. Ultra Violet did as well. "Get used to it. Now goodnight. You've got a big day tomorrow rookie." She stood up and and watched helplessly as the robot turned off right after she said that. Resting for the night.From behind the door, held a small hand against the metallic object. A smile of satisfaction lit on her rosy lips and her green kimono. The silent boss. "Thanks Violet." She gave a satisfied smile, knowing that one of her proud generals just helped a rookie believe in their plan for greatness again.
