"Oh hey Sawyer," the group greeted as they sat down. "Hey guys, thanks for sitting with me," he greeted back. "First off, I wanna say thank you to you, Silver. You seriously saved me back there from those bullies."

"It's no problem. I can't stand bullies, and I couldn't let them pick on someone like that." Silver responded  back. "By the way Sawyer, I was wondering, where's your friends? I thought your friends would be sitting here too?" Dawn inquired. His expression dropped for a second before returning to its previous cheerful appearance. "Well, I don't really have any other friends besides you guys..." He said, embarrassed. Their expressions softened with sympathy. "Its fine though, it doesn't really matter. I mean, I have you guys as friends now." He said with a nervous chuckle and a fake smile. Deep down he knew that was a lie. He knew he wasn't fine. Dispite this, the group seemed to buy this. Or thats what he thought. Silver didn't buy that it didn't bother him. She noticed his fake smile. She knew what he was doing all to well. She used to do it for years after Rose's death. She had been in the same situation.  No friends, bullied, depressed. She bottled up her feelings inside, not showing weakness to anyone, even though inside she hurt. In the end, closing herself off from the rest of the world had just made everything worse.
*Flashback  Begins*
"Hey look, its red-eyed freak!" A voice called out and laughed evily, pointing at a little girl with red eyes and silver hair. Soon the other kids nearby joined in by laughing and calling her names.

"Whatever. You guys don't bother me at all. Find something better and more productive to do with your time," the little girl replied coldly, but unbeknownst to the kids around her, a small tear slid down her faced, but was covered by her hair.

*cuts to later that day at her house*

"WHY CAN'T I JUST BE A NORMAL KID?! WHY DO I HAVE TO BE A FREAK?!" The girl yelled between sobs.

"Silver? Are you okay in there?" A womans voice sounded through the door.

"GO AWAY! I DON'T NEED YOU! I DON'T NEED ANYBODY!" The girl screamed in frustration.

*Flashback End*

Suddenly, Silver was filled with determination. She was going to help Sawyer. She wouldn't let him go down the same dark path she went down. She still had lasting mental and physical scars from that, she wouldn't- no- she couldn't let him go through the same things that she had.

So, I hope you liked the chapter. By the way, somewhere in this chapter I made a reference to a videogame that was popular a few years ago. If your the first person to spot it and comment it (cite the exact line and what the reference is to) will win. If I remember, I'll give a shoutout to the winner in the next chapter.
