○remus's p.o.v.○

forty five minutes after my shift at the diner ended, i, once again, i found myself searching through the science fiction section of the library. the place where i always seemed to end up in, somehow.

i had about fifteen minutes before i was supposed to be back at my apartment that was just down the street. my two best friends, lily evans and peter pettigrew were going to come over so we could have a movie night.

however, i couldn't just pass up an opportunity to stop at the library. it was one of my favorite places.

i stood in front of a shelf, my eyes inspecting all of the books that sat upon it. i had read quite a few of these books already, several times.

i stood there silently, inspecting the spine of each book to find one that i hadn't yet read.

after a few moments, i found one that seemed interesting, but i didn't have too much time to look through it before i was interrupted.

"hey." said a voice that was next to me, startling me a bit.

i turned toward the voice. "uh- hello. " i said, somehow managing to quickly compose myself.

i looked him up and down. he was wearing a leather jacket with a plain white shirt underneath and ripped black skinny jeans. he had long black hair that went down to his shoulders, and grey eyes that i could get lost in. he seemed to have a punk rock aesthetic that really worked for him, but there was just something about him that said otherwise.

"i'm sirius black." he said, smiling up at me.

i wonder if he was named after sirius, the brightest star in the sky.

"i'm remus lupin. nice to meet you, sirius black. what brings you over here?" i questioned.

"well you see, i was supposed to be helping my friend over there," he pointed to a person with very messy hair and glasses, who looked oddly familiar, "and i was watching you, not in a creepy way, and i thought, "wow, he's really cute" and he told me that i should just go talk to you if i wasn't going to help him."

i could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks when he called me cute, but i tried to ignore it. "you're cute too," was all i managed to say.

just then, my phone started buzzing in my pocket.

i grabbed my phone and checked my notifications, and saw that i had a text from lily.

lilyyy:
remy, where are you? peter and i are waiting

"oh, its just my best friend, she was wondering where i am." i checked the time, then i looked back at sirius. "i should probably get home, my two friends are waiting for me." i was a bit upset about having to leave right now.

"oh, okay. can i have your number?"

i couldn't help but smile at that. i was happy that he asked.
