"all was golden when the day met the night"
- when the day met the night by panic! at the disco

○sirius's p.o.v.○

i walked - well really, i was pulled - into the library around eight pm on a saturday night. it's not very common that i go to the library, especially not on a saturday night, but i was on a mission. a very important mission, or so i was told.

my bestest friend, james potter, was in desperate need of a book. not a book for him, of course not. james potter reading by choice? no, i don't think so. that's just absurd.

the thing about james was that he was completely and desperately in love with our friend, lily evans (or as i called her, my main hoe). she, however, claimed that she hated james potter, but i knew better than to think that to be true. i can see it in her eyes when she looks at him.

ah, young love.

lily was the reason that i was being dragged into the library that night. she had told me and james about a book they just got in at the library that she wanted to read, but she didn't have the time to go and get it.

james immediately pulled me by my arm down the street and away from the diner that we were at for barely five minutes until we reached the library. he had somehow come to the conclusion that if he got the book for lily, she would agree to go out with him.

i think that this plan is shit, but i knew that there's no way to stop james at this point. he was determined.

i followed him as he searched the shelves, and examined the library.

there were many bookshelves (who would've thought there would be bookshelves at a library?) and a few tables that were vacant for the most part.

my eyes wandered until i spotted a boy around my age in the science fiction section. a very attractive boy.

he was tall, just a few inches taller than me and had sandy curls on his head. he had soft eyes that were a chocolatey brown color, although you could see small traces of green in them. he had a very pretty face, even with a scar that went across most of it. i couldn't help but wonder where it came from.

he was wearing a sweater that covered most of his hands, leaving just part of his fingers sticking out of the sleeves. it was pretty adorable.

he was focused on the books on the shelves in front of him. i could tell by the way he chewed on his bottom lip unconsciously and ran his fingertips across the spine of the books.

i got this weird feeling in my stomach as i continued to look at him, seemingly unable to tear his eyes away from the boy. i felt the urge to go up and talk to him.

"sirius, are you even listening to me, or are you just staring at that boy?" james asked me, not bothering to be quiet, and earning himself a glare from the librarian.

i turned to look at him and smirked. "of course, i'm listening to you prongs. i always listen to you." i answered sarcastically.

he rolled his eyes. "sure you do." he replied, equally sarcastic.

i shifted my gaze back to the boy who still seemed to be searching for a book.

after a few minutes, he pulled a book off the shelf and carefully flipped through the pages, as if he was worried about hurting the book.

how much more adorable can he get? i thought to myself.

"oh, just go talk to him already. i'm surprised he can't feel you staring at him. i'll find the book by myself, not that you were even helping me in the first place."

"you know what? i think i will talk to him." i didn't waste anymore time standing there. i carefully weaved my way between the shelves and tables until i reached the boy.

"hey," i said gently as i arrived next to him.

he seemed a bit startled by my presence at first, but quickly regained composure. "uh- hello."

"i'm sirius black." i introduced myself, smiling up at the slightly taller boy.

"i'm remus lupin. nice to meet you, sirius black. what brings you over here?"

"well you see, i was supposed to be helping my friend over there," i stopped talking for a second to point at james, "and i was watching you, not in a creepy way, and i thought, "wow, he's really cute" and he told me that i should just go talk to you if i wasn't going to help him."

his cheeks turned a bit a red when i called him cute, but he smiled nonetheless. i thought that his smile made him even more attractive than he was to begin with. his eyes seemed to shine brighter than they did just seconds before.

"you're cute too," was all he said in response, but it made the weird feeling return to my stomach.

before either of us could say anything else, his phone started buzzing in his pocket.

he pulled his phone out of his pocket with an intrigued look on his face.

"oh, it's just my best friend, she was wondering where i am." he checked the time. "i should probably get back home, my two friends are waiting for me." he said, almost sounding reluctant.

"oh, okay. can i have your phone number?"

he smiled at that. "yeah, of course." i took my phone out of the pocket of my leather jacket and handed it over to him so he could type his number in.

when he finished typing in the digits, he handed it back, smiled again, then said, "i'll see you later, sirius black." he turned around and walked towards the exit, his sweater sleeves still covering the majority of his hands.

after he walked out, i turned around and walked over to where james was now standing toward the front of the library, a book in hand.

as i approached him, still smiling, he raised an eyebrow. "i'm guessing that went well then?"

"yes, i would say so." i said, still grinning widely as we approached the exit of the library. "i got his phone number."

james turned to me and smirked. "you dog."
