I lay, my blonde fringe framing my face, knives in hand, my two best friends next to me either side. My twin sister Abishag, and a boy older than me, 15, Hayden. His long light brown hair, that was tied tightly into a ponytail, looked i light shade of green through the leaves of the woods. I heard a noise and jolted up poised throw, it was a deer, a stag. I threw hitting the already wounded animal in the chest - then again in the neck. Abi, gasped, "Oh Abi! Be quiet, we need money to buy things don't we?"
"Y-yes, we do... I just don't understand-" she started in her soft voice,
"Look, Abs, why don't you go find some katniss routes? Yeah?" Hayden interrupted before we started arguing. She did as he had suggested leaving just the two for us, alone. In silence I wandered over to the stag, pulled out my knives and picked it up. It was heavy, but i could carry it, "Hayden take that to the butcher's would you." I hoisted the corpse onto his shoulders. He didn't argue, he normally does, but not when I'm in a mood like this.
As he trotted away from me I saw he was talking to himself, probably about me. I sighed. Frustrated and tired, I walk along through the woods past my sister, who was singing a flourish of notes before the birds copied her, at the pond. to where i had set my traps with her and Hayden. I was just checking if they'd caught anything, I knew they worked. I don't mean to brag but I'm a bit of an expert with traps!
We set up five traps in the area, three of which have been activated. All rabbits. I untied them and put them in my game bag, just before resetting them and walking back to the pond.
