Keith trudged through the trees, leaves crunching under his feet. He smiled gently upon reaching the edge of the lake, his eyes resting on a lone figure leaning against an aging oak. Lance raised his head, returning the other boy's smile as their eyes met.

"Have you ever been here before?" Lance questioned, drawing Keith further past the woods' edge.

"No," the latter responded with a soft and happy voice, "The lake is beautiful." The pair drew together, clutching onto each other's hands and heading towards the lake, brimming with happiness. They both reached the slowly lapping waves, resting on the gnarled roots of Lance's usual perch. "Do you ever swim here?" Lance's brow furled, as he had never entertained the thought.

"I haven't swum since I left Cuba," he admitted to the now grinning Keith. "...What?" Lance started to edge back, suspecting his soulmates next move. "Don't you dare-" Keith shoved the tan boy into the cool water, resulting in a resounding scream. As soon as Lance's upper body emerged from the water he grabbed Keith's dangling ankle, dragging him into the water. Keith stood up, laughing while spitting out water. "I bet I can beat you in a race!" Lance shouted, splashing into a front crawl. The raven haired boy giggled, lunging after him.

Lance inevitably won, the race turning into frantic splashing at each other as both boys laughed and succeeded in soaking their clothes completely.

"I'm glad we can be like this now," Keith muttered, unable to contain his grin.

"Me too," Lance responded, wrapping Keith in a dripping hug. Keith moved his head from the other's shoulder, staring into Lance's shining eyes, moving his own face towards Lance's.

"I'm glad you're the person who's my soulmate." Keith drew his face even closer, his lips pressing against Lance's as they clung to each other in the lake.
