You never know how times will change. Last week, Mom, Dad, Everest, and I were a perfectly happy family relaxing at home during the end of summer break, our travels and adventures over. I was a straight A student, only 13 with so many possibilities in my life. Everest was content in our yard, taking a dip in the pool every now and then. We were so well off that Dad quit his job as a Bank Executive. Mom was glad to have such a great family and a successful career in the fashion industry. Then I just had to walk in on Dad and Marlene. Marlene was Dad's secretary and mistress. She has a daughter about my age, Juliet. We used to actually be friends. Best friends. I had other friends, Cordelia, Mia, Opal, Rosalind, Tia, Bea, and many more but Juliet was my best. Thin, arched brows, translucent skin, red hair, downturned green eyes. I was that ugly kid who was half Asian and weird but had friends because she had a pretty friend and was rich. I was the ugly friend who only got hit on by the wingman.
Anyway, Dad and Marlene were making out. Dad was shirtless. Marlene wasn't wearing anything but a lacy white thong.
"Dad." I said. Marlene gave me a glare that could turn Medusa to stone. Dad's mouth was agape, his eyebrows so high up on his forehead they could have touched his hairline. Just at that moment, Mom walked in.
"Sam, what the fuck are you doing?" Mom screamed. Mom doesn't like to curse but this was an exception, "I trusted you, and tried to make you happy and this is how you repay me, by fucking this whore? Your goddamned secretary?"
Everest walked in. He's a border collie with brown, black, and white fur, and bright green eyes. He barked. Mom barked, "What is wrong with you, you unfaithful bastard?"
"This, a misunderstanding?" I yelled, "How is being shirtless with your fucking secretary a fucking misunderstanding? She's in a thong Dad, a fucking thong!"
Mom shot me a look that looked like she was saying, "Get out of this, this is for the adults." I ran out of the room with Everest.
"Ram, can you pass me a water?" Mom calls from the front of our white Mercedes GLC. I pass her vodka in a bottle of water. Mom takes a long drink, and some of her lipstick comes off on the bottle. She has dark circles under her eyes. Deep, violet shadows.
I wonder how Dad is now. Probably with Marlene. Juliet told me they were getting married in a few months. My phone beeps. It's a text from Izzy, short for Isabella. She's been my new best friend ever since Juliet moved away and her bitch of a mother got her a new number. I look out the windows at the great, red desert.
Okayy, first chapterr! This is probably absolute crap but.....well that's my writing ://
