Deal and Hostage

Su Miao, Han Li, and the others had turned pale with fright. The sight of the Blue Wind Wolf so close to them had them frozen in their spots. Looking at their behavior the Blue Wind Wolf had a look as if they were already food in his eyes.

Lin Chen realized that all the others in the group were clearly cultivators and would gladly sacrifice each other if it meant survival. At that moment he only hoped that they forgot about him.

Han Li and the others looked and signed to each other with their eyes. After some debate, they decided to fight. Everyone could tell that they were like cornered rabbits waiting for their deaths but still, they would like to try and see if they could escape. Everyone had their own schemes in their minds.

Seeing the pale look in their eyes the Blue Wind Wolf laughed and looked at them with contempt and gave a gruesome smile. Lin Chen thought that it was pretty impossible but the group turned paler than before.

"Ah! Fresh meat, fresh meat. How I love fresh meat." said the Blue Wind Wolf. Hearing him talk the group knew that every chance they had to escape had gone out of the window. Only 10th or higher lower level demonic beasts could talk like humans. It was not likely that anyone knew that such a beast had existed in the Purple Yang Mountains.

"Oh Great Wolf, Please let us go. We will forever be at your mercy." Han Li said trying to flatter the wolf.

"We will be eternally grateful and send anything that you want by tomorrow if you let us go." The wolf was tempted but he was also wary about the nature of humans and that they could easily betray their promise.

"How can I believe such a promise made by humans."

"What can we do to make you believe us?" Han Li asked even though he knew that it was not wise to make a deal with demonic beasts.

"Leave behind one among your group and if you do not come by tomorrow sundown I will kill him and eat his bones."

Looking at each other Han Li and the others were caught in a dilemma to which one of them should be left behind. Many among the group wanted Su Miao to be left behind. Han Li, being the one to chase after her, did not want her to suffer such a fate.  Su Miao who also didn't want to stay behind suddenly caught sight of Lin Chen who was trying to be as invisible as possible and gave a crafty smile.

"Hey, why are we taking such a long time to make a decision when we have him." saying so Su Miao pointed out to Lin Chen. When Lin Chen saw her point at him Lin Chen knew that he was in trouble. Looking at him Han Li and the others from his group revealed looks of doubt. They knew that even though he was a mortal, he belonged to the Lin Family. If something were to happen to him, they would be in a lot of trouble.

"But Miss Su..." started one of Han Li's lankey trying to tell her about Lin Chen's background. Seeing that her decision would likely face some obstructions she deliberately leaned towards Han Li and said in a soft voice.

"Brother Han would you bear to leave me here. Even though I may appear unfair, but isn't he a servant? He should be grateful to be given such an opportunity to save his master's life. "

"Everything you said is fair." saying so Han Li pointed out to Lin Chen and said, "Hey you, we are made the decision to leave you behind." With a look that promised pain if he made any objection Han Li asked: "Do you have any problem?"

In a group that is obviously against him and stronger than him, he couldn't refuse and had to reluctantly agree. Shi Yan who had been silent up to now  came forward then and putting a hand on his shoulder as if to comfort him said: "Don't worry Brother Lin we will come back for you."

Even though he didn't believe him, Lin Chen still forced a smile and nodded his head. Looking at the Blue Wind Wolf that had been looking at them as if they were acting in a play, Han Li told him that they were leaving Lin Chen as a hostage. The wolf agreed and all the others except Lin Chen left the area.

After some time they reached the summit of the mountain. The two groups the separated at the entrance to the town.

"You know that we are not coming back for him don't you Brother Shi?"

"Yeah, I know."

"But you still left him behind I thought you were friends."

"What friends? He was obviously someone who was clinging to me and did not know the difference between heaven and earth. Let this be a lesson to him."

"What about the Lin Clan then?"

Han Li who was listening to their discussion intervened.

"As long as no one tells anyone about him who would know what had happened to him. No one except us knew that he was not a servant and someone from the Lin Clan."

"Brother Han is wise." saying so the others started to flatter him.

Hearing their praises Han Li gave a laugh. They had already forgotten about Lin Chen who had been left behind because of them.
