Chapter 29
Months passed and my stomach grew bigger. Oh, I just can't wait for him to be in my arms!
"No signs of any potential diseases." Nginitian niya ako. "You'll give birth to him in less than a month, Mrs. Monterio,"
A ghost of smile appeared on my lips as I stared at my son from the monitor. He's really getting bigger and bigger!
"Should we just stay here in the hospital?" tanong ni Sage. "Just to make sure that she's always okay..."
The doctor chuckled softly. "It's okay, Mr. Monterio. This hospital is just a 10-minute drive from your house. But you need to be extra careful now that you're about to give birth..."
He squeezed my hands as well but he never tore his gaze off from the monitor.
The past months went on smoothly. Sage and Aaric are a lot busier this time of the year. Their business is as strong as ever.
Marahan akong umiling. "Ayos lang po ako dito..."
"We wanted to be as close to our grandson..." aniya at binalingan ako. Zahra is by her side and from the looks of it, she isn't exactly pleased to be in this place. Nakasimangot lang ito at hindi nagsasalita, even when I greeted her at the door.
"Ayos lang po talaga ako dito. Sage is taking care of me..."
"It's okay, Carol. We can visit our grandson every now and then. Malapit lang naman dito ang mansiyon."
Dismayado akong tiningnan ng kaniyang ina. "But if you ever change your mind, Mallory..."
Bahagya akong tumawa. "I'll tell you as soon as possible..."
Pareho silang pawisan at hinihingal.
"I didn't know you guys are visiting."
"Well, the package for your son had just arrived and we wanted to personally give it to Mallory." Tumayo ang kaniyang ina at nilapitan ang anak. She caressed his cheeks. "Look at you, Sage.
Sage chuckled. "It's okay, mom. I'm doing this for my son."
"Why'd you let your son work in the fields, anyway? Sebastian-"
"Let your son learn, Carolina." Anito sa malalim na tinig. "Malaki na si Sage. Don't treat him like a young boy..."
I chuckled at their conversation.
