The words that Kagome had never wanted to hear."I want to be with Kikyo." Those words had sent her over the edge, her heart slowly breaking. Yet he didn't know that.

It was obvious Kikyo did; she had a smug smile plastered across her face. Her heartache was replaced with fury towards the two people in front of her.

"Alright, then," Kagome started, the anger not yet visible to them."Stay with her. Have her for all I care. Hope you have fun that clay pot," she spat.

"How dare you call me that!" Kikyo hissed, notching an arrow to her bow. Her aim was at Kagome, releasing it quickly so the girl wouldn't have time to react. The arrow plunged into Kagome's abdomen, blood beginning to seep through her white school shirt.

InuYasha turned to look at Kikyo, his expression filled with confusion and surprise."You deserve that and much more, you weakling," Kikyo sneered.

"Kikyo..." InuYasha mumbled, taking a tentative step towards her.

Seeing this as her only opportunity, Kagome spun on her heel and ran into the forest.

The pain was bearable for a while, but soon, she started to run out of breath. Kagome stopped running and leaned against a tree near her. Taking in a shaky breath, she looked down at her shirt, which was now soaked with her blood. Her vision became blurry, then she collapsed. The arrow was still buried into her body, she realized, and could do more internal damage if she didn't get it removed at once. Damn Kikyo, the clay pot. Forget InuYasha, the one who broke her heart with his words. Now, she had to get the blasted arrow out.

But how? She was in enough physical and emotional pain right now, and was unwilling to do it. However, she wanted to live, though she doubted it from her blood loss.

Hesitantly, she wrapped her hand around the arrow, sucking a breath in before jerking the arrow away from her body. Kagome cried out in pain, tears trailing down her now dirty face. She looked at the arrow head; it was tainted red with her blood.

Kagome dropped it beside her as she sighed and closed her eyes. The warmth of the sun calmed her, making her drowsy. Slowly, Kagome was pulled into the warm darkness. She was weak, so she never sensed a demonic aura near by.

When Kagome woke up, she didn't feel that sharp pain in her abdomen anymore. She was on something soft, so she must've been on an animal, she thought. But her blood ran cold when she heard voices. Could it be possible that she had been picked up by bandits?

No, her bow and things were there with her. Wait a minute. She had never brought her stuff with her when she left...

Then, Kagome concentrated on the voices. A deep, sophisticated voice was first. Then a squeaked voice, that seemed to never stop. The last, was a girl, she realized.

"But mi lord! She travels with that disgusting half breed, InuYasha! This lowly human woman does not deserve your attention!"

"Silence, Jaken. You are making me lose my patience," the deep voice responded.

Kagome slowly looked up, daring to look at her savior. Her jaw dropped at who it was.

It was the person least expected to save her; or any human at what she knew. He despised humans more than anything.

It was InuYasha's older half brother, Sesshoumaru of the west.
