Her eyes hadn't been fooling her. It was stone, cold-hearted Lord Sesshoumaru. Never in her wildest dreams she thought he would save her. Not that she dreamt of him.

Then, the girls voice shouted,"Lord Sesshoumaru! She's awake at last!"

Kagome slowly got up,"Why did you save me?"

Both demons looked at her.

"You impudent woman! You should be thanking mi lord for saving someone as pathetic as you! He had only seen that pathetic wound on you and decided to save you!" the little green imp cried, waving his staff around as he shook with anger.

"But why?" Kagome asked again.

"You should go back to InuYasha, girl," Sesshomaru said quietly.

Kagome shook her head."It is probable that I will not be returning with that hanyou. I have no business with him, nor I want to know about him. I give you my gratitude for saving me, but I have no intention of going back to him."

"Why so?" Sesshoumaru asked.

"I would like to not talk about that. But you can imagine why. Are you still looking for Naraku? I could help you with the search," Kagome said, changing the subject as she got up.

"Alright then. If you help us to get to Naraku, I will let you stay. If not, be on your way, Miko."

Kagome bowed slightly before feeling a tug on the sleeve of her kimono."Hi, I'm Rin!" the little girl said, a smile stretching across her face."Who are you?"

Kagome smiled and crouched down to Rin's eye level."That's a beautiful name, Rin. My name is Kagome."

Rin returned Kagome's smile."That's a pretty name too."

Soon, Sesshoumaru started to leave."We should follow Sesshoumaru, Rin."

"Okay!" Rin said happily, grabbing Kagome's  hand. As soon as they were behind the demon Lord, the little girl started to babble on about stuff.

But all Kagome could do was stare dumbly at the back of the man's head, wondering why he saved her. Suddenly, Rin yawned. Poor thing must've tired herself out with all the talking she had done. Kagome crouched down in front of Rin."Get on my back. I'll carry you for a while," Kagome whispered.

She felt as the small child crawled onto her, yawning a bit more."Thank you Lady Kagome," Run whispered as she loosely wrapped her arms around Kagome's neck. Before Kagome could question Rin, she was fast asleep.

Kagome got up and followed the Lord, staring at him again. He had said he hated humans, yet he had a small human girl as a companion. Sesshoumaru also saved her life, she recalled. Something she had not been expecting from the great taiyoukai of the West.

She sighed. The way he was: mysterious. He was kind and loving to Rin, like a father, but to other humans he was cold hearted.

Kagome then turned her attention to the green imp beside Sesshoumaru.

Jaken had been awfully quiet, despite the fact she knew him for being annoying and loud. The only sound that came from him was the light tapping of his feet on the forest ground.

Finally, the little girl resting on her back. Despite knowing her for a few hours, Kagome had seen enough to know how Rin was. She was the light of the group. She had the cheerful spirit any child should have, her laughter was contagious, and a big sweetheart.

"Would you stop staring at my back?" Sesshoumaru asked, turning his silver head to glance at Kagome.

"Sorry. I never realized that I was doing that."

He turned around and continued to walk. Oh how she missed her former companions. Especially Shippou. She could care less for that hanyou now. He was out of her path, no longer involved with her fate, thankfully.
