Chapter Five

Niall POV-

I couldn't believe that Zayn kissed my cheek. It made my breath more erratic than what Liam did, but Liam only did that to make sure I was cooler, right?

"Niall honey, why are you late?" My mother asked me as soon as I walked inside. I turned to her, stumped for words to say. Why was I late again? All I could think about was Zayn's kiss. It finally came back to me, the reason why I was late. I looked at my mom, seeing her glaring slightly making me shrink back in fear. Was she gonna yell at me?

"Sorry mom, I was at football tryouts. Guess what though? I made the team!" I told her, watching a loving smile make it's way on her face.

"Really honey? That's great! We'll just have to celebrate this Friday!" She exclaimed, reaching forward and giving me a hug, which I gladly accepted. I let her go, walking to find my dad in the living room. He turned to look at me when I walked in the room, watching me as I walked and sat down next to him on the sofa.

"Guess what dad?" I say, turning to face him while he does the same to me.

"What?" He asks, pausing the movie he was watching.

"I made the football team today!" I told him. He froze for a second, then whooping and pulling me into a hug.

"That's wonderful Niall! You're gonna be just like your old man. I was on the football team back in my high school days as well. I'm proud of you son." He told me, tears in his eyes as he pulled me into another hug. I was ecstatic, he was proud of me? Sure, he says it all the time, but I feel like he actually means it this time.

"Thank you dad. I wanted to make you and mom proud of me." I whisper in his ear, hugging him back just as tightly as he was hugging me.

"You always make us proud Niall, always. Remember that, okay?" He aks me, letting me go and looking me in the eyes. I stare back, nodding with a smile on my face. He smiles back at me before turning back to his movie. I was content. We actually shared a moment, not sharing one of those since I was ten.

"Niall are you hungry?" My mom asks me, coming into the living room and staring at me.

I nod, starving after the several hours of running around in the sun. I get up from the sofa, heading into the kitchen with my mom. She made me a sandwich, setting it in front of me along with a glass of milk. I thanked her, digging into my simple yet delicious meal. Afterwards, I cleaned up and head upstairs to my room to do my homework.

In the middle of my homework, I thought of Zayn. He intrigued me, that's for sure. I wonder if he was actually going to pick me up for school tomorrow, or if he was just lying to me. I don't understand why he'd lie, but then again his friend didn't like me much this morning.

I went to bed early that night, looking forward the the good looking guy picking me up in the morning.

I woke up with a start, my alarm clock blaring at full sound, making me flinch slightly at the noise.
